Title: BAYED A GROUP TODAY
Post by: The Old Man on January 29, 2024, 10:37:19 pm
The hogs rallied, didn't get to see them all it was real thick. Caught a piggy sow, dogs left running and bayed another piggy sow that cut across a field, she took refuge in a pond. Had the young male that was catching the potbelly cross a couple of weeks ago, he made both races and bayed well until the last sow would fight at them in the edge of the pond, had it been a good boar he probably wouldn't have made it home, hope he wises up.

Good hunt Clue. Im sure that young dog will wise up after a few cuttings if he lives long enough. Nothing like getting into a sounder for teaching dogs to relay.

I’m glad you found out that you hadn’t caught all those Oklahoma hogs. I never doubted that your pup would do well. I hope like Cajun that he gets wise before his demise. That grit is nice but it can sure make nervous for a young dog until they do learn.

Whats a rally?   I almost forgot that word  when it comes to hogs baying  LOL...    its hard to find that these days.    In the plott world its hard to find a male dog that dont push the envelope a little.. I hope he figures out how far and when to push it for your sake and his..   If we could whisper in their ear and they would know what we are saying they would prob live a lot longer....  Glad yall finally got in some good catches,, it wont take long now for them young dogs  to put it all together.

I hope they aren't just passing through, we thoroughly hunted that area about 2 weeks ago and there was little sign, and that was old. That area used to always hold hogs. It was good to see several piggy sows in the old stomping grounds.

Just moved to Oklahoma recently myself, the locals say there’s hogs in the area I haven’t seen them or sign yet. It’s sure enough beautiful country and am currently enjoy being out in the woods learning the new area.
