Title: 9/2/24 hunt
Post by: Cajun on September 03, 2024, 06:58:43 am
Shut down a runner today. Yellow and Showgirl trailed this hog 3/4 of a mile and bayed him in his bed. Mike the knife and I went in and my bulldog missed. They ran him another hour and bayed. Blake, Todd and Brody Joiner caught up with us and we sent two bulldogs and we think he broke before they got there, it was just that thick. We all packed more dogs and bayed him a couple hours later. Blake sent his bulldog and caught about a 150# boar. We made him a little lighter and got out of there. Had to be close to 90 degrees. Look like he had plenty to give up on the back end,,,   Heck of a run for dogs in this heat..  that is to say the least,,,   I might have had to say a few choice words after the second miss but some of em know where to get to make it almost impossible to give the cd a sporting chance to do his job...

Man that’s impressive dog work Cajun. This heat will expose the weak hearted.

Thats the problem Judge. They go until it is too late. Hank, Showtime and Yellow have all heatstroked 3-4 times. If we wouldnt have got them to the creek they would have died. They have not been the same in the summer. In the winter you could never tell, they can run like they used to.
