Some people call catahoulas lepord curs but there is a seperate breed of dog that was known as the American lepord cur until a few years ago when the registry changed the name to American lepord hound so they could competition coon hunt.

The lepord cur/hound is a bit different from the catahoula in appearance and how they act.  They can have a thick double coat of hair, some are pretty bushy, often have a hound appearance, colder nose and a bawl mouth.

Not sure on this..... I know we had Leopard dogs back East..... I had never heard of a "Catahoula" until I moved to Texas.....I will say our leopard dogs were more box headed and really kinda hound looking. I had one that I got form GA a few months back out of some old GA/ TENN lines and I took him on 3 hunts and he disappeared ( I didn't have a tracking collar on him and I was SICK!!!) I had been trying to get those lines out here but it just didn't work out.
