Title: Looking For a REAL Strike Dog Post by: redriverslim on December 15, 2009, 04:57:40 pm OK fellows, I'll give this a try. I'm looking for a 100% NO B.S. Strike/Find dog. I don't want the dog that you're selling because you've "got too many dogs and you need to thin down". Everybody knows that NOBODY culls from the "top" of the pack. I don't want a "started dog". I don't want a dog that is "going to make a good dog someday". I don't want a dog that is "a little bit open". I don't want a dog that "trashes occasionally". I don't want a dog that "hunts better with other dogs". I don't want a "good young prospect". I don't want a dog that is "too rough for you". I don't want a dog that "is a little hard to catch". I don't want a project. I want to be able to see him hunt and I want to see him take off like you shot him out of a cannon, and go find a hog., and do the same thing EVERY TIME.
Ideally needs to be between 2-4 yr. old dog in his/her prime. Preferably blackmouth cur, or blackmouth cross. ABSOLUTELY 100% SILENT. A dog that has found, stopped, and bayed 50 hogs minimum. Not "was at a bay with the other 5 dogs when you got there". Dog must be healthy, no previous broken legs that healed up good, etc. Needs to be a dog you can cast that gets gone and hunts the same every time. It doesn't have to roll out 2 miles, but it has to have good drive and have some GO to it. If you can hunt him without a collar, I don't want him. NO RUNNING CATCH DOGS. I want it to live longer than 2 weeks. Now before you guys start in on me, I know this dog is probably not for sale, but what the heck, that's the one I'm looking for. If I don't get one bought now, I'll keep on looking. I'm not in a hurry to just buy an average dog. I don't have a price range in mind, but if you say you have this dog I'm describing and you only want $300 for him, well let's be honest, lets not waste each other's time. If any of you fellows know where this dog is, I would be interested. The economy is down right now and I'm looking for that dog that wouldn't be available in better times. I can travel within 3 hours of Texarkana, TX to see the dog hunt, or you can bring the dog here and we can hunt together. I have access to 11,000 acre deer lease with no fences, hogs are in there thick right now. If you drive here and we don't get on anything, I will pay for your gas. Post your replies with a phone number and I'll call you. Title: Re: Looking For a REAL Strike Dog Post by: Silverton Boar Dogs on December 15, 2009, 05:07:59 pm 806 455 1297

(http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e103/pwt3/Aug209007.jpg) Finished dog on hogs and cattle. Medium to med long range. Excellent nose. Great raw speed and great track speed. Hunts on the run and very busy. Good handle and nice dog to be around. Hunts the same with or without company. Has been hunted day and night in country that ranges from flat grassland, to heavy brush, to crop ground, to deep canyon country. When legged up she can be hunted day after day and has no quit. Very tight aggressive bay style, will bite the ham or nuts to stop a runner or a hog that breaks, but will then always back up and bay. She will help catch with the catch dog but will roll out after you leg the hog. Roads well or can be cast. When she checks in its time to move, no hogs there. She is one of my top finished strike dogs that has been hunted hard for the last 3 years and has been on 100+ hogs. Must run with tracking, when she starts a track she will finish it and stay bayed as long as it takes for you to get there. She is not a dog that will follow a hog around for miles, she gets there and gets them stoped right now. Can be called out of a bay with the crack of a whip or gun shot. She is smart in the field and will always track her way back to the last place she saw the truck and then track to the truck. Will not leave the country if there is no sighn she will find you when she is ready to move spots. She is an outstanding dog with no week spots, she is all business. Hunts through deer no problem. Will not look at a cow at night and can be hunted in cattle at night. She is a proven producer. One bad habit, she will flash run a jackrabbit that jumps up in front of her in the daylight when she is fresh. This is my definition of a finished dog and she fits this description, "Finished means quality, great drive, predictability in hunting style, great ability to find and stop hogs, great bay style and ability to use the correct pressure to hold different types of hogs, great track speed, great raw speed, good handle, smart, no bad habits.....and can do it all when hunted alone. The dog will have no weak spots and can do it all on its own." Title: Re: Looking For a REAL Strike Dog Post by: cowcountryhogdogger on December 15, 2009, 10:15:34 pm I will vouch for Paul's dogs. I own one myself and have also hunted with several of his dogs. They are exactly as he describes them and more. I don't know what you are looking for or amount to spend but I wouldn't hesitate to get in touch with him if you are wanting a sure enough finished hog dog that WILL produce pigs for you.
Title: Re: Looking For a REAL Strike Dog Post by: rafterfpuncher on December 15, 2009, 11:14:00 pm I can personally vouch for Paul's "Smoke" dog. I have probably hunted behind her 25-30 times, and she is everything that you said you wanted. She is easily handled and is a pleasure to hunt behind, and as Craig said, if Paul tells you something, you can take it to the bank.

I think he found and bought the dog he was looking for. There are dogs are out there like this. I have been lucky to hunt with a few, but have never owned one. They are usually not for sale or for sale long. Most of the time if a guy owns a dog like this, his buddies and friends have already said to him " if you ever decide to see old_________ give me a call 1st." He will mostly like have strangers that have never seen the dog hunt offer serious cash for the dog. If you would like to pay to watch a show, I could have a buddy demo such a dog for a small fee. He wouldn't be for sale and could never be bought but he is the real deal. Title: Campbell curs Post by: buddylee on December 23, 2009, 06:19:14 am I know most of ya'll are in Texas, but I know of a fellow here in Georgia that sells dogs from 6 weeks to several years that are line bred/ inbred hog dogs. His dogs are very well known for putting pork on the tailgate. He is a very honest guy who knows dogs and how to breed quality dogs. He has a 15 acre pen where he starts them and can show them work plus he can take you huntin to show you the dog. His name is Gary Campbell. If interested I can send you his number and you can talk to him.
