Title: HELP! -- Dog's shot last night -- Whitesboro, TX Post by: aladatrot on May 07, 2008, 03:48:06 pm Could you give us an idea of the circumstances under which the dogs were shot? I'm sure TDHA would like to get involved.

Title: Re: HELP! -- Dog's shot last night -- Whitesboro, TX Post by: jlingle on May 08, 2008, 03:20:06 pm I used to have a couple of B&T hounds that I got from a fella in Lexington. I wonder if it was the same people. Regardless, that really sucks. I wish em the best of luck in prosecuting the landowner.
Title: Re: HELP! -- Dog's shot last night -- Whitesboro, TX Post by: texasgirl on May 08, 2008, 09:36:54 pm Does the land owner have the right to shoot a dog on his property? I don't know much about landowners rights in those situations. Seems like even though it was a cruddy thing of him to do that he had the right if they were on his property without permission.

If you go to this link, you will find some reading discussing recent case law, and how it applies to the recent dog shooting. http://www.thenewtdha.com/joomla1.0.11/index.php?option=com_joomlaboard&Itemid=28&func=view&id=3151&catid=2 Title: Re: HELP! -- Dog's shot last night -- Whitesboro, TX Post by: mley1 on May 10, 2008, 12:06:00 pm The subject of landowners shooting hunting dogs has been a hot topic on several occasions. It's occured before to some of hog dogging friends. It's very difficult to prosecute the landowner, but it can be done. The TDHA is a good resource and hopefully can provide some good info.

Two (2) dogs were shot and killed by a disgruntled landowner while competing in the PKC Open Event (Coon Hunting) at Whitesboro, TX last night. One of the dogs was Junk, owned by Rick Lynch of Lexington, Oklahoma, and the other was the 2008 Texas State Champion Dixie, owned by Bob Boyd of Pilot Point, Texas. These guys are asking for any help or direction anyone can lend in trying to prosecute this landowner. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. You can reach Redgy Ramsey at (903) 564-6293 or email him at vallcr@valleycreekhuntingsupply.com. Any and all replies welcome. THANKS! |
