EAST TEXAS HOG DOGGERS FORUM

Me and my two youngest headed down to Fort Bend County this morning to hunt with Chris, his youngest daughter and his buddy Richard. Ended up with three sows, 210, 180 and 100 lbs on the scale. We were headed through the pastures on our way to block of woods that usually hold hogs. Saw a good track and Chris put down Annie and Brandy. They looped out ahead, crossed the canal and hit a goup of hogs in a huisache thicket. They cut one out and were baying and spinning it out in the middle of a pasture. We had to drive all the way back around the canal to get to them... we got there and they showed bayed by the creek at 3/4 mile. >:( Headed that way and caught the first sow. We figured the rest of the group was still there, so we went back and put Ruby, Hunter and Tiger down with the two older dogs. They made a big loop through the huisache and struck the group again. Caught the other two right next to each other. The kids had a blast and three young dogs got a good work out... the two big sows have a date with the sausage man. ;D

Shane, that's my puppy Hunter. He's a grandson out of my Tweety dog and right at a year old. Some friends and I have that entire litter that we've raised.

Good looking kids. Its nice to see hunting skills being passed to the next generation.

There has been a transition that's taken place with the kids over the last couple years. They have gone from being a liability on the hunt, to being an asset and good hunting partners.  It used to be that someone had to "babysit" them on the hunts, now they handle the dogs-from collaring them before the hunt, to tracking them with the radio systems, leading them when needed, and getting them un-collared after the hunt.  The kids also handle unloading and loading the Mule, and driving it to us once we have a hog tied.  About the only thing the kids are not doing yet, is driving us to the hunting spot, and actually catching and tying the hogs. Other than that, they pretty well have things covered.

Only problem with having kids hunting with you, is they start claiming your dogs too! 
 Kailey, my youngest claimed Annie the first day she saw her, so anytime Annie and Kailey are hunting together, Kailey has to do 100% of the handling with Annie. If I take Annie hunting without Kailey, I can expect a phone call from Kailey wanting to know how HER dog is doing... ;)

Nice,wayto go Mike, Chris, and kids. My son and I were just talking about taking my grandaughter out on a hog hunt when she gets older but we will have to convince her mom first lol. Not so easy. Shes only 15 months now so we have some time. Looks like Dillon will want to go again. I just want to say thank you to Mike, Chris, Mandi, and the Dogs for making our hunt the experience of a life time that we will never forget it was blast to see the excitement in Raymond Jr. and Matts faces when they got there hogs that was priceless thank you for making that possible. And we look forward to doing it again.

Hey Raymond... good to see you on here. We sure did enjoy that hunt and look forward to doing it again when y'all are ready.

We try to get our little ones out when we can... they sure do enjoy it.

Great hunt guys, gals and kiddos! sometimes it is worth braving wet and cold conditions to have those kind of results.
