EAST TEXAS HOG DOGGERS FORUM

Well since i am getting ready to get some new pups i figured i get ready for them and be able to keep them kenneled up.  So this weekend i spent a little bit of hard earned money and started building.  I got the basic design from Realdogs ,AKA Scott, and went to work.  The overall dimension is 12x12 so each kennel will be 4x12.  Gonna finish up next weekend with the 4x4 cattle panel dividers and gates and then the 1x4 batting and tin roof.

Thanks Scott, yeah i got some pitch on the 2x4 that are there already and i still have some more to put up before the roof goes on.  The wind break is on the north side of the kennels to keep out the cold winter wind ( when we get it).  I think i am going to put another piece of plywood on the south side foreward six feet and then the last six with the feedlot panel.  Also plan on attaching three barrels in there for houses also.  Just a little bit more work to go.  It don't help that my buddy wants to go camp out down at baffin this weekend and fish for a day or two.

Been kinda busy lately but i got a few hours yesterday do work on the kennels a little more.  Put down the treated 2x6's between each run and on the outside perimeter and put up the utility panel.  Panels are sitting on top of 2x6 risers,  panel itself it 4x4 squares 5 feet high.  Just gotta get on the roof and doors. well any ways here it is

What kinda boards are those for the floors? I have my frame and concrete ready to pour but man i cant find any help to pull it and spread so that looks like a job i can do alone. Looks good though

I sunk the 4x4's about a foot and a half then built the frame out of pressure treated 2x4's then put  3/4 inch pressure treated plywood for the decking.  Anything that is a ground level is pressure treated.

They look really good Shylar.  The only thing I would do temporarily is put some chicken wire around the bottom couple of feet because the pups will go right through the 4"x4" squares.  I built my puppy pen out of the same stuff and had to go around the bottom with some 2"x2" wire so they couldn't come through it.  In a few weeks they wont be able to get through at all but for now I would put some wire on it.  Really good looking setup though.

That sound like a good idea. Bout how much in cost if u dont mind me asking?

so far i have roughly 400 dollars in it and i still need to buy 1x4 for the batting and then tin for the roof.  So i'm guessing another 90-100 dollars.

Yeah Matt i thought about the size of the holes and the puppies, but i also have a pretty good sized chain link tractor supply kennel that i will probabbly keep them in till they cannot escape from the new kennels

Nice looking Kennels.  Gives me a good idea.  I am building on 1 acre and going to have to set up a kennel or two myself.  Keep us posted. would love to see the final look and the dogs in it too.

Well i started mine last night. It is going to be 24x12. With 4x4 as the base and 3/4 4x8 treated on top. Thanks for the idea

Well they are finally done.  I havent been able to post for awhile since i have been kinda busy since school started back up with work and family and all.  But i finally got the kennes done.  Just need to put a cross bar on the door of one of them and i be totally done well heres the pictures.

I actually lucked out on the doors.  The lady who lives next door to my uncle had a son in law that collected junk and brought home a pretty good sized kennel that was kinda wrecked and just piled it in her yard and she wanted it gone so i got it and got all the material for the doors except i had to buy another utility panel to fill it in with.

Those kennels are lookin good. How them pups comin along for you?

They are comin along pretty good  been trying to keep them excersized  and socialized every chance i get.  The one all the way on the left, Loco, so far is showing the most promise he will get out and go on his own and go out with my older dog,  the dog in the middle, Tex, is about the same, and the dog on the right, Shorty, will leave out with the rest of them but will return befor the others and hang out around me while we are out.

Your tex dog looks a lot like my pup. She is showing a lot of promise as well.  Let me know how that hood dog training comes along.
