Title: Amoxi-drops
Post by: boarwild on January 13, 2010, 10:13:51 am
is there anyway to get Amoxi-drops without having to take your pet and get a prescription just so they can charge for something you already know what it is.

You can get Amoxicillin without a prescription as fish-mox.  Amoxi-drops is a cat medication.  1ml = 50mg.

well i took my puppy to the vet and they prescibed amoxi-drops for an upper respiratory infection, and she didn't fully get over it.  i called and i have to take her back before they will prescibe again.  She has the same symptoms, so i was just trying to find a way to get the same thing.  Can i use the fish mox for that?  How many capsoles per/weight is recommended?

I'm not a vet, and so I'm not going to get in the habit of recommending doses of medications for other's animals.  With any antibiotic, weight will determine dosage but so will the severity of the infection.

But I will say this.  1 ml of Amoxi-drops = 50 mg amoxicillin.  You can use the dose of the drops prescribed by your vet and do the math.

Personally, if you followed the vet's specific instructions and the problem persists I would think you may have something else going on that needs to be evaluated.

no i agree with you on that.  it's just that with this cold weather and rainy days i know my pups have a chance of getting it so i was hoping to get a bulk supply of it, becuase i know the vet won't allow that.  Thanks for your responses.  i won't hold you to anything you say, but it's good opinion's.
