Title: Pastors first hog 1-20-10 Post by: catchrcall on January 21, 2010, 09:47:32 pm Got to take my pastor hunting yesterday morning and got him on his first hog. We turned out at about eight or so and had this sow kiled by about 8:30. We turned out at a little draw that has been seeing quite a bit of hog activity lately, and my Betty dog struck coming up the other side into the cedars. Her and my bluetick/heeler cross Blue got the hog stopped a couple hundred yards later. I had taken a pup, Sammy, on her first hunt and she made it to the bay quickly once she heard the other dogs start barking and a squeal or two. We made it in close enough and sent in Chico, the catch dog and got legged and let Scott stick his first hog. I'm pretty sure he's hooked good now. I was real happy that Sammy got some work on a hog. Once she figured out that hogs live out in the woods, not just in a baypen she stayed pretty busy. The sow weighed 140 lbs. without guts.
