Title: Ankle injury and surgery Post by: JDJP on February 01, 2010, 07:09:30 pm So i broke my fibia, and dislocated my ankle thurs night. went to the ER, and was told i need surgery to repair the ligaments? i guess thy are gunna put a plate in there too.
I went to the doc today, and he had to move my ankle back into place, and it was worse than when it broke :o :o :o. anyway, i was hoping you all could pry for me if you think about it, and also offer up any ips or advice youve got about surgery and rehab or anythin else. it sucks my birthday is monday and im in pain in a cast at home all day long. thanks Dylan Title: Re: Ankle injury and surgery Post by: craig on February 01, 2010, 07:26:30 pm im 9 months out of a major knee surgery, not your standard orthoscope , i tore my patelar tendon completely into from my knee cap, knee cap had to be drilled and tendon reattached. i has a sweet 10" scar looks like i had knee reaplacemant.
anyway what i learned from my deal is to stay hooked on the rehab, get as much rehab as you can. do all the exercise they send home with you, as soon as you can. dont over do it when you start walking again. time will pass faster than you think. you will be going again before you know it. good luck , with your surgery and recovery Title: Re: Ankle injury and surgery Post by: Rockin-P-Ranch on February 01, 2010, 08:08:41 pm In 2000 i was in a car wreck where i broke my back and neck when a tongue pull trailer came loose from a vehicle and hit me head on causing me to go airborne 3 flips end over end ejecting me from my 1 ton truck landing in a ditch. I was life flighted to houston herman memorial trauma center. That was the worst thing to go through in my life. I was in a body cast as well as neck brace, you name it for about 6 months, physical therapy, and then ended up having back surgery to repair 2 crushed vertabraes. It was a long ruff road but I'm back on my feet good as new! Still get to do what i used to do....riding horses, working cows, running with my dogs, taking my wife dancing (for moma). I understand your fears very well. But the doctors they have these days can fix you up like new! If you need to talk...just pm me anytime.

Ronnie You make me feel like ive got a little scratch on my foot compared to that. Thats what i kept telling myself. it could be much worse. hell some of those hatians are having limbs amputated with NO DRUGS. but Ive never broken anything, shoot ive never even had to go to the hospital for anything, so this is all new to me. Title: Re: Ankle injury and surgery Post by: JDJP on February 06, 2010, 09:33:11 pm I now have a new scale for pain.
It was a 3 when i broke it, a 6 when they put it back in place, and a 10 when i woke up from surgery. im still in quite a bit of pain now. It feels like someone drilled holes in my bones and screwed a braket to them. they tried something called a nerve block before i went under, and i was very angry to wake up and relise it did not work at all. Title: Re: Ankle injury and surgery Post by: craig on February 07, 2010, 06:23:56 pm i had a nerve block when i had knee surgery, the worst part was when it started wearing off.
i had a bad experience with the pain pills so i quit taking them on the second day after surgery. now thats when i found out i had no idea what real pain was. i toughed it out , but my pain scale was defantly reset to a higher level.. good luck on your recovery.. |
