Title: Saturday's Hunt Post by: Mike on February 07, 2010, 07:07:44 pm Matt, Chris, John and his grandson Ray met me out in Waller County yesterday for a "short" hunt. That short hunt lasted all day with only two hogs caught. We finally caught a sow around 2:30 or so and then Annie, Smiley and Tweety took the rest of the bunch 2.6 miles and had a boar bayed in a blow down. Got him caught and called it a day.

Title: Re: Saturday's Hunt Post by: mikewood on February 07, 2010, 09:00:50 pm Any hunt is a good one when you get a young hunter into the woods better if he takes a hog or two!
They are the future. Congrats. Title: Re: Saturday's Hunt Post by: lonewolf on February 07, 2010, 09:02:15 pm Good hunt!

Title: Re: Saturday's Hunt Post by: Circle C on February 08, 2010, 09:47:20 am It was a good hunt until Matt tried to knock Mike out of commission with a rogue tree branch. See now that Matt has a hot rod UTV he drives a lot faster and seems to be a bit more careless. Things were coming at em so fast racing through that pasture, that Mike didn't even know to blink, much less dodge that branch. Next thing you know Mike took a direct hit to an open eye. Matt, I am thinking that until you get a handle on all that power, we might need to swap buggies for a while. ;D Mine rides so rough you won't dare break 5 mph through a pasture. ;D
Title: Re: Saturday's Hunt Post by: matt_aggie04 on February 08, 2010, 10:17:28 am Yeah the "danger ranger" will scoot across the pasture for sure! The ride is second to none but poor mike paid the price haha I sent him a text yesterday to check on him but I got to thinking about it he might not have been able to read it. Like you were saying, all fun and games till someone gets their eye poked ;D. He was looking at his garmin when it happened so maybe we can blame it on it haha
Title: Re: Saturday's Hunt Post by: Circle C on February 08, 2010, 10:19:09 am Mandi offered to kennel him with Foxy. Said he could stay with her, and she would doctor his eye twice a day like she has been doing for Foxy. :o
Title: Re: Saturday's Hunt Post by: Mike on February 08, 2010, 10:32:43 am Yeah, it got me pretty good. The hardest part was the ride home. My good was so tired trying to stay open that I had to stop 3 times... almost had Angel come get me when I got to Willis. I was finally able to open them yesterday evening, still sore but ready to go again. ;D
Title: Re: Saturday's Hunt Post by: Rowdy on February 08, 2010, 10:40:33 am nice job
Title: Re: Saturday's Hunt Post by: crackerc on February 08, 2010, 10:44:15 am If I ever win the Lottery I am going to have a set up like that to load hogs. I have the hardest time getting some of the hogs I catch, loaded by myself.........something like that would be REAL nice at times.
Course, sounds like I may need to put a bullet proof windshield on mine to protect me from the tree limbs, irate monkeys and such...... :o Title: Re: Saturday's Hunt Post by: Cull Buck on February 08, 2010, 10:56:53 am The Danger Ranger.....that's great.
Looks like a great hunt guys. Title: Re: Saturday's Hunt Post by: TShelly on February 08, 2010, 11:54:18 am Hahah got to love those 'short' hunts.. I've been on a bunch of those! Good job.. Good luck with the eye Mike!
Title: Re: Saturday's Hunt Post by: matt_aggie04 on February 08, 2010, 12:03:59 pm Yeah left the house at 5:30 am and pulled back in at 6:30 pm. That is a long day when you are only hunting 30 min from the house! Had a great time though and it was nice to feel the sun for a change.
Title: Re: Saturday's Hunt Post by: slimpickins on February 08, 2010, 12:12:45 pm Awesome job! Matt, when you get time, snap some more pictures of the "danger ranger" and start a new thread, I'd sure like to see more of it. ;D
Title: Re: Saturday's Hunt Post by: matt_aggie04 on February 08, 2010, 12:35:40 pm Mine is just a plane Jane 2010 ranger xp but that one pictured there is old man George's. His is six wheel with that rack and winch etc. Pretty handy for loading hogs when you are getting up in age.
Title: Re: Saturday's Hunt Post by: Noah on February 08, 2010, 05:22:10 pm All my hunts are supposed to be "short hunts".... 10-16 hrs later when everyone else is asleep in the truck and my dogs finally give out... is usually when "my" short hunts end though ;D
Good hunt! Title: Re: Saturday's Hunt Post by: uglydog on February 08, 2010, 05:48:46 pm I recognize that young fell ain the photo. His name escapes me, but his eager and willingness to be involved made an impression at cleaning station for a wounded warrior hunt.
