She has a small poke on her side, close to her ribs. She wont let you touch it and has been throwing up and acting weird since this happened. Does anybody know what this could be? Is it serious?

Title: Re: Dog hurt. Need help Post by: TimmsHogDogs on March 07, 2010, 10:42:25 pm We had a dog get cut like that. She had to have 10 inches of intestine removed but the funny thing is she still wants to hunt and is the best dog weve ever had. My suggestion take her to the vet. It may cost alot but in the end its worth it. Our vet was nice he charged 400 total...

Need help Post by: Josey on March 08, 2010, 09:56:04 am My Dad took her to the vet this morning and he said that the cut was so small but poked behind the ribs, it was bleeding the wrong way, the blood was draining into her and not out. The vet is gonna do some work on her today and she will be ok. Thanks for the help

Need help Post by: catchrcall on March 12, 2010, 09:19:19 am just wondering, did you notice any other signs that there could have been something else wrong? maybe some bruises on her belly or swelling or anything? not trying to troubleshoot here, just asking in case something like that happens to one of mine. Sure glad your dog is gonna be ok.

Title: Re: Dog hurt. Need help Post by: dub on March 22, 2010, 12:57:22 pm Really sorry to that she didn't make it. I always man handle my dogs when I pet them. If they won't let you look at something it is very bad and I know if it is a good dog I go straight to the vet. It is all about the dog being used to being inspected and handled. In a dog pack a severely injured dog is rejected. So the dog will not want you to know because instinct kicks in. So make the dog comfortable and get to the vet fast. With that some dogs never want to get inspected and they are hard to know.
