EAST TEXAS HOG DOGGERS FORUM

I have a problem child, BRAT, she is about 3 months old and very independent. Took her to the wood last weekend and walked her for about 2 hours and she swam the creek, played in the mud hole with the kids, venured out in the woods out of my sight and on the way back I tried to catch her before we got to the road and couldn't. Had the kids run around me, so I could get close enough to put my hands on her. If you put a leash on her she is awesome. Loves other dogs and not humans. Already got out of the dog yard and bayed this sow in our pen.

I love the the fact that she just goes and isn't afraid of anything  and no social is great but that no catching, drives me crazy.

Any suggestions on getting her to come, food doesn't always work and I mess with her daily?

Some dogs are a just a pain in the ass and always will be.
I have one that has always been like that, she only comes if she wants to be caught.

My Catahoula was the same way , I could whistle all day and call his name he wouldnt come I tried everything. Hes the opposite now doesnt matter if im in the woods or @ home i call his name and he sprints as fast as he can to me. Whatever you do dont hit kuz theyll think you're gonna hit em when you catch em. When i did catch him i gave him a treat ( training treats) and praised him good boy good boy  , your pup is young and still alot of maturing to do . Im sure she'll start to listen soon . I also read in a trainer book that a dog must do somethin for there owner/master to get a reward i make all my dogs sit before they get there food every day . Just to let know my 3 month old pit/cur listens better then my catahoula when he was 13 months just different personalities.  You got one the nicest pups ive seen .

Good lookin pup.. I wouldn't be too worried about it yet.  Give her a little time to be a pup and she'll probably come around.

ok this is my opinion on that i love pups like that for the sole purpose that some of the best dogs i have seen been that way and i would train her to load up in the box with other dogs this way when you drop the gate they all load up without you being right there i have 3 dogs you can't touch as far as they don't want to be petted but you drop that gate they load up no prob
