Title: Husbands and Wives Hunt Post by: Mike on July 27, 2008, 09:13:51 pm After all these years, my wife finally decided to go hunting with me. So we put together a weekend hunt down at the lodge we do our guided hunts at. This was couples only... no kids. Clay and Stacy, Matt and Mandi, Chris and Mandi, Jason and Laura, Krystal and Thomas and myself and Angel. We only caught two hogs, but we had a helluva good time!
Friday night we decided to wait and turn out around 2:00 AM. Hunted until 9:00 am the next morning and came up empty handed. :( Krystal and Thomas had to leave and Jason and Laura arrived Saturday evening. We skipped the night hunt and decided to hit our "ace in the hole" spot on the Colorado River at daylight this morning. Unfortunately, my wife and Chris were a little "under the weather" and didn't make this hunt! :P After about thirty minutes the dogs struck a group of hogs and caught a little shoat. We heard Jason's Bo dog baying in the distance and all the others headed his way. After about a 3/4 of a mile race, they finally shut him down in a blow down. We got there and six dogs were backed up baying, Clay sent in his two catch dogs and sealed the deal. A good boar hog that went 205# on the scales. Thanks again to all of you who came out. All Mandy could talk about on the way home was how much fun she had, while I don't think she is going to making every hunt I bet well see her in the woods again before too long. She even helped unload, feed, and water dogs when we got home and was driving the mule around "practicing" ;D Here are some of the pics she took over the weekend....

It may be that they would hog tie her and donate her to charity themselves. I'm sure they will be spending some more time in the woods with us. Laura and Stacey need to quit their jobs so they can go hunting with us more often. They were "hooked" a long time ago, just lack the time to get out there. I think I may be a bad influence.
On another note.... As Mandi G. and I were trying to get to a bay, we accidentally went up the wrong part of a ravine. Of course, Meat Head was charging up the side of the ravine and must have disrupted a snake. It crossed right in front of Mandi. She let me know about the snake, and pointed it out when I didn't see it (I'm a doofus sometimes - it's a wonder I don't get bitten). Then she waited for it to pass out of striking distance and she climbed up with it still close by. All of you guys would have been so impressed with how she dealt with a BIG snake on her first time out. I have a feeling that most girls would have freaked out and refused to go on. She took it in stride and actually handled it better than some men I know :O) Cheers M ps Krystal, I'm glad yall made it out.
