Title: The hog farm......
Post by: matt_aggie04 on July 28, 2008, 06:29:52 pm
I set up a game cam on my folks place in mid June to see what kind of hog pics that I could get over this well used wallow.  My dad brought it home to me yesterday with 185 pics on it  :o.  Can't wait to see what kind of pics I can get once I have my feeders up and running.  I also thought it was funny that the wallow never went more then about two days without one of the several groups of hogs visiting it.

Yeah I am about to start trapping and barring as many boars as I can during deer season and then it will be "game on" come January through the spring.

Dang!!!!!! ;D  I bet you that was exciting to roll through that game cam!!

Bayed Blue-- game cams are the best, we got six of em.  we use the the cheaper moultries, and they work great, we have had the flash go out on a few of them but keep the receipt give them a call and they send you a new one.  Service is great at moultrie.  We have had a few different other cameras and they all end up malfunctioning in some way or another.  but the service has not been as good with other brands.  Moultrie is the way to go.

As a side note, last Feb I was walking through the woods close to the area this camera is set up in and came across a sounder of hogs working the leaves over for acorns and there was a sigle white piglet with black spots that could not have been more then 3-5 pounds.  I believe that is her in these pics, she has grown ALOT in 6-7 months!!!  There are alot of different groups that work this property, hogs that we have seen and cought/released deeper into the property were not on any of these pictures.

good pics matt. i like that red hog. The one coming down the trail in the 3rd pic looks like a 55 gallon barrel he looks big. We need to put our hands on him though for a closer inspection.... ;)

Matt, they all look so FAT! Would be interesting to weigh the ones you get out of the trap to see how much more they weigh when you catch them again. Don't know really how you'd go about doing that though.

Nice hogs  :O)

Bayed Blue-- we have six of the flash cameras, the one's that cost $116.99.  Like I said, we have had the flash mess up before, but they dont give you any lip if there is a problem, you send it back with the receipt and  they either fix that one or with us they have been sending a brand new unit.  We have had other cameras that break and they want you to send it in and then they don't have the part to fix it and six weeks later you get your camera back.

If you don't want to buy it on the internet you should try Academy, Gander Mtn, Bass Pro or even Walmart.  Good luck!!
