Title: Re: turning catchdog loose from the rig Post by: Eric on April 18, 2010, 05:03:14 pm You have to know you enviroment and distances or you can get in a bind. Fields and light brush I have no problem cutting loose from the box. The thicker it gets the closer I like to be.
Title: Re: turning catchdog loose from the rig Post by: Tcoots on April 18, 2010, 05:12:18 pm Im out there to hunt and and let my dogs work I want to be there when the catch dog gets to the hog because im going to be right behind him my friends are the same way when the bulldog is let loose we go in to dogs doing his job its time to do yours. When you turn your catch dog loose to far back dogs stand a better chance of getting messed up. But this is just how we do it every body has there own way they like ^-^

Title: Re: turning catchdog loose from the rig Post by: kevin on April 18, 2010, 07:31:33 pm I wasn't really looking for how everyone hunts.
I have a young dog that hates being on a lead. He is alright in open ground but fights it when you get in to any kind of cover. Mostly my fault, as he never even had a collar on until he was 7 months old. He is timid about being controlled by his neck. Not at all agressive he just kind of freaks out. I'm gonna give him another week or so to change, if not he's off the food bill one way or another. I was just curious how many people hunted that way. Its not for me. If one of you is interested in another dog, send me a pm, he might be available in a week or 2.
