Title: Wilbur and Ted. Post by: slimpickins on April 30, 2010, 10:41:28 am Many of you know that Wilbur was caught the last weekend of February 2009.
Those that saw him know he was not much bigger than a Coke can and his navel wasn't entirely dry. Well, here he is now, close to 300 lbs. Some friends from Seymour caught Ted (Ted Nuggent) about 6 or 8 weeks ago and have decided they can no longer raise him. We figured Wilbur would like a little play buddy. Since neither one of them understands that they are a pig, or even know what each other is, it's taken over a week for them to tolerate each other. I say tolerate because Ted just aggravates the crap out of Wilbur day and night and Wilbur doesn't make as much noise and get as mad as he did. (http://i463.photobucket.com/albums/qq353/cbstark1/Ted2.jpg) (http://i463.photobucket.com/albums/qq353/cbstark1/Ted1.jpg) Ted's biggest problem is his attitude and willingness to hook a boot or anything else he can. We're going to remove his "attitudes" next week and see if we can get him settled down and growing as fast as Wilbur did. Title: Re: Wilbur and Ted. Title: Re: Wilbur and Ted. Post by: aladatrot on May 03, 2010, 12:25:37 pm Wow, you aren't going to eat wilbur are you? Ted is cute too. My rosie hog started out with a bad attitude with the biting and barking, but she got out of it. Now she comes when called and is getting much better at tolerating petting. She is the most vocal hog I have ever seen. Are wilbur and ted barky and squealie?
Cheers M Title: Re: Wilbur and Ted. Post by: slimpickins on May 03, 2010, 02:05:22 pm Wilbur is safe, as long as he doesn't bite anyone for real.
I've been waiting on him to get me so I can butcher him. Although I'd hate to, I'd dress him out in a second. Pure corn for 11 or 12 months, bet he'd sure eat good. They squeel and bark a little but not really too much. Wilbur learned to bark with the dogs at feeding time but he's about grown out of that. Title: Re: Wilbur and Ted. Post by: Cull Buck on May 03, 2010, 02:23:15 pm WOW! I had no idea he could grow that fast in such a short period of time.
Title: Re: Wilbur and Ted. Post by: slimpickins on May 04, 2010, 08:37:01 am Me neither but he sure did.
He's borderline about to out grow his front feet. They kinda roll back and are getting long in the toe. I'm going to have to buy the farrier an extra 30 pack next trip out, not sure if he can trim a hog or not. ;D |
