Title: Barr a hog? Post by: stickinhogs on May 07, 2010, 01:08:44 pm I jus got a couple boars from a buddy of mine and I want to barr them. I have an idea on how to do it but I want to make sure. Is it like cutting a calf? do I sew them back up ? Do I spray anything on it when I'm done? Any advice will help, thanks in advance

Both testicles can be pulled out the same cut. You will have to cut throught a lil tissue and fat to get each testicles out enough to cut through the cord. No sewing is needed. You may want to spray some wound spray or the purple spray on it after it is barred.

Thanks again guys, Russell Title: Re: Barr a hog? Post by: BigAinaBuilt on May 07, 2010, 03:49:27 pm If you yank the tubes you'll cause excessive bleeding. What we do here in Hawaii is to make a slit and then squeeze an eggo out and cut off the cartilage connected to the nut and then scrape a sharp knife against the tube until it comes free and then make slit on other side and repeat. I have seen a few guys slap some vaseline on the cut but on most occasions it's just a slap on the butt and it's on its way! Here's a video, If you watch at about 1:40 there is a good example of the cutting. There are also a few great videos on this site if you wanna check out more action! http://rustyboar.ning.com/video/anelab1-1 <---This girl and her family bring out some trophies!
Title: Re: Barr a hog? Post by: Randy_P on May 07, 2010, 04:05:08 pm How is two holes better than one? And it does not make them bleed less or more. You are cutting through the same tissue inside with one cut as you would by making to cuts on the outside.

Russell Title: Re: Barr a hog? Post by: ETHHunters on May 07, 2010, 04:51:42 pm No need to sew them back up. Just do it fast and let them go.
Title: Re: Barr a hog? Post by: 3-Bdogs on May 07, 2010, 04:53:12 pm we don't sew pat on the back and let em go
Title: Re: Barr a hog? Post by: Florida Curdog on May 08, 2010, 08:55:13 am We do a slit on each side.
Title: Re: Barr a hog? Post by: Arkansas Frog on May 08, 2010, 09:23:08 am cut two holes that way blood won't pocket up and set up infection cut low so it will drain good we use to use sulfur to keep the flies off.
Frog Title: Re: Barr a hog? Post by: WAARHEID on May 08, 2010, 10:15:31 am There are different ways to cut, some cause quite a bit of bleeding, some cause little to no bleeding. Same goes for pulling the vas (the tube)... if you just pull on the testicle until it gives it will probably bleed, but if you choke up a bit on the tube and give it a firm quick snap off, the connected portion usually draws up into the cavity and "pinches itself off" so there is little/no bleeding. The point is that it can be done without bleeding either way, it just needs to be done correctly.
I know guys that do all of the things suggested... cut low, treat with sulfur, give a penicillin shot, etc... but I don't know anyone that sews them up. Title: Re: Barr a hog? Post by: stickinhogs on May 08, 2010, 08:26:25 pm Thanks guys for all the info, hopefully I can do one tomorrow
