Title: IF YOU BAIT IT, THEY WILL COME. Post by: hogdoggin91 on August 13, 2008, 09:59:19 pm A couple of our friends have been have quite a bit of hog trouble in thier back yard. They were just pickin them off thier horse trail with a spot light and a .243 but they did end up gettin them a trap and corn soaked in diesel. Funny thing was coons were still eatin diesel soaked corn but thats besides the point. They come out this mornin and find they have four little piglets and about a 90 pound sow waitin for them. just cant wait till we get them cooked up. ;D ;D ;D..tastey.

Title: Re: IF YOU BAIT IT, THEY WILL COME. Post by: Noah on August 13, 2008, 10:59:13 pm Corn/diesel... does that stop deer from eating it? That's the main reason I've never baited, the deer eat it all...

Post by: Cristina on August 13, 2008, 11:08:15 pm my dad told me once that pigs are one of the only animals that can eat poisons or other harmful things and throw it up before it does any damage to them. Dont know if thats true though.

Title: Re: IF YOU BAIT IT, THEY WILL COME. Post by: rob73 on August 14, 2008, 08:30:32 am I wouldn't tell to many people you are soaking it in diesel. If the wrong people hear that it's a hefty fine.
Title: Re: IF YOU BAIT IT, THEY WILL COME. Post by: got2catchem on August 14, 2008, 09:24:22 am I would probally feed them out like you would a show hog to be on the safe side. Diesel contains chemicals like Benzene, which are highly carcinogenic(causes cancer). It's almost just the same as eating fish from a polluted river.
Title: Re: IF YOU BAIT IT, THEY WILL COME. Post by: Mike on August 14, 2008, 05:44:47 pm Everything you buy these days from the grocery stores has some kind of chemicals in it. :o
Back when I trapped a bunch, I always used corn with diesel in it... worked good for hogs. Nothing else would touch it... coons would after it was rained on. I never "soaked" in diesel, i'd just pour some over the corn in a bucket and stir it up. And it tasted just like every other hog in the woods. ;D Title: Re: IF YOU BAIT IT, THEY WILL COME. Well i think most of us do but there are areas that the hogs bother many people that you cant run dogs. For example this was in a nieghborhood. Title: Re: IF YOU BAIT IT, THEY WILL COME.
