Title: Hog doggin TV show
Post by: TColt on May 14, 2010, 09:55:15 am
Found this website, I'm very interested to see how this turns out, really hopein this doesn't ruin the name of our sport anymore than it already is. Sure would be fun to do somethin like this if it works out.

I agree, it would be a shame for the guys to ruin a good thing, but I wish the best for them in doin what they love and makin an extra buck as long as they don't screw it up for the rest of us!

Did you see the $5000 dog lol, must be good, too good for me that's for sure.

X2!!!!

I dont think anyone with a hog hunting website should show a dog cut up like the two dogs they showed pictures of. That is not something the public needs to see regardless if the dogs were treated etc.

Great!  That's exactly how I want our sport presented to the general public.  Looks like a bad epsiode of cops minus the crack pipe.

i just watched their video catching the no ear hog and i was not impressed at all.   first off they should have had a catch dog or 2 with them to start with.
then the catch dog didnt have on a vest. and then they were worried about a little water in a ditch. they kept saying they werent scared but my eyes were seeing a bunch of scared dudes..    not my type of hunting buddies..

dont get me wrong im not trying to slam then and make my way look like the best way.     i just want the rest of the world reading this to know thats not the way everyone catches hogs..    it all goes back to being prepaired and a little planning.
if i leave out to a bay  i will have a catch dog with me and we will catch it ears or no,   water or no water..

My son found this site a month or so ago though a youtube peta propaganda video and there was a video on there of 2 dog playing tug a war with a 60lb pig one on the tail and one on a ear and one ole boy was cheering them on and the pig lost it's tail...not good...and why did they have to call it SOUTHERN .....   it's more like   $$$$$$$$$$$ambition.... they better get it right or it won't help..... my 2 cents

Them boys were SCARED. If they were worried about their dogs they would have put a vest on them catch dogs.. That is definitely not what I want as a representation of our sport.

I watched some of their videos from the website and youtube both,......doesn't seem to me to be something that the general public should see. These boys will have to take it easy with what they put out to the public or we will all suffer. I too agree that they go off half-roostered at times.....don't understand why they didn't have a firearm of some sort on the earless hog if they weren't going to have their catch dogs handy......one shot and it would have been over. I don't understand why so many hogdogging videos have the heavy metal, headbanging, screaming music to go along with the hunts....I'm all for listening to the kind of music that you like, but that stuff seems a bit out of place on a hunting video.....at least to me.

"the voice of reason" thats pretty scary! looks like they are hi-jacking the handicap shopping carts at Walmart, have a year and half old finished dog for $1200, pictures of a black & Tan houndy dog missing hair all around its eyes, alot left to be desired to be a representative of a day in the life of a hog hunter,

aww come on!! Whats wrong with alittle happy music to get you in the hunting mood!!  ;D
Watch one of the videos Texas_Cur has posted. That Drowning Pool song has PERFECT timing with his catchdog.
Yeah, that music isnt for everybody, especially you old folks  :D

I am currently doing an article on the effects of feral hogs in Central Texas. In the article, I am highlighting hog dogging. I know that every sport has its rotten apples but it does not take long to notice that some hunters take the safety of the dogs to the next level. I feel that people who are not educated will look at this with negative ideas on the sport as a whole. I am not trying to belittle anyone - but people who dislike this type of hunting are looking for ammo.

They acted a little skeered to me. I dont want to be shown in the same light with them guys as a hoghunter. Nor would I want to be put in the same catagory as a person with them cats. That is not the kind of people I would enjoy hunting with.

Unfortunately they are from florida, Ft Myers to be exact :-( I don't know them but recognize their area code.  I haven't had a chance to go through the whole site.  It doesn't surprise me that they act like that...there arer A LOT of those in this area that are just out to do it so they can call themselves "hog hunters" and make what we do look terrible to those who are uneducated about our sport.

I'm in agreement with most of what has been said  BUT  are we not trying to better our sport so instead of cutting them down why not bring them up show them all the history of hunting that all of YOU hold inside I think we all agree we are not shown in a very good way to the public  It all starts some were  For sure some one from that project is reading all of this JMO

Title: Re: Hog doggin TV show
Post by: 3-Bdogs on May 15, 2010, 04:25:50 pm
well they have some good stuff actually they just need to edit out the cursin and quit showin the cuts on the dogs and less blood other than that its pretty neat i will say that but no way on earth will the non hunters see the good stuff just the bad

For sure were not going to change many minds but maybe our numbers will come together    Together we are much more likely to fight a good fight the activist that pelage our sport are growing   Just looking for some thing positive

Title: Re: Hog doggin TV show

finally got to a computer tonight to check out the videos and what not. Most of them didnt look too bad, they act like fools a couple of times in some of the videos but who doesnt goof off every now and then. i think some editing of the language, talkin about dogs gettin cut, ect ect would go a long way. They are looking for another group of florida guys to film. why dont some of you florida boys apply for it and maybe help shed some good light on our sport!

Is it me or some kind of moon cycle? But every retard wannabe hog hunter on every internet hog board feels the need to show pictures of butchered dogs.

It happens to me just like everybody that hunts,

but when did it become cool to let your dogs get butchered because someone is afraid to wade a little water. Then post the pics everywhere?? ???

My husband and I watched the video together and then I told him that he should bring them along to show them how it is really done, needless to say I can't post his response  :o

I will say that they weren't worried about getting their dogs wrecked for three major(IMO) reasons that I observed:

(1) they went over an hour's walk away w/o a catch dog but remembered the camera
(2) their bay dogs were "shredded" (their words not mine) but once the CD got there they still wanted to wait for him to come up the ditch therefore not backing up their dogs.
(3) the only "armor" I seen on their CD was a cut collar

When you hear "big no eared hog in a ditch" I'm thinking crap its chest deep, dogs are swimming and he is fixing to wreck what ever is in the ditch with him...that is a little different than that hog standing belly deep in water, it shouldnt have posed any problem for them or their dogs if they werent hesitant about getting in the ditch.

We personally know a man that drowned a hog by himself as a few "hunters" (one being his son-in-law I believe) stood on the ditch bank watching his dogs get wrecked before he got there to see what was going on (he's had 2 knee replacements in both legs so it takes him a little longer than the spring chickens)....the hog was about 250 (typo) with 3" of teeth, between him and his dogs they sealed the deal...and that is a TRUE STORY.

There are a lot of trials and tribulations when hunting down here in FL from people not knowing what they are doing to not being able to handle their dogs and this just flat out has NO business on the internet or put into mass distribution. IMO

Well I know most of the place's I hunt belong to ranchers and farmers all of them would not hire a man or boy with ear rings and act a fool like that much less let him just go hunt his place!!! Them ears were not cut off by anyone they were chewed off by someones dogs that was scared to catch a hog like these guys!!!!

Title: Re: Hog doggin TV show

it is hard to find places to hunt in Fl I think these guys are just trying to find places to hunt, it blows me away how people from TX put up a post and get invited to hunt on several places must be alot of good people there but down here you have to have alot of $ or know someone who runs a grove or ranch or have some good dogs that people talk about and want to take you so they know they will catch some hogs, I seen they where hunting in Okeechobee and I live by there and have family that lives there and know most people who hunt around that area just wont let anyone hunt there land so I figure these guys payed that man to hunt his land and dident get permission by there reputation as hog hunters and are trying to find spots to hunt by acting like they are some kind of famous internet hunters.
