Title: Hog Baiting Post by: leonriverboy on May 19, 2010, 10:54:04 am I was wondering what kind of success y'all had with hog baiting? What are the best methods? Do you think it works? Will help attract big boars?
Title: Re: Hog Baiting Post by: coach on May 19, 2010, 11:02:33 am Don't know bout big boars but we would stake out a 35 gallon barrel with corn and kool aid. Those hogs would visit is all the time they would roll it around to get the corn out cause it had holes all drilled throughout. Good way to start young dogs also.

Title: Re: Hog Baiting Post by: firemedic on May 19, 2010, 03:17:39 pm Yes it works.....at least everywhere we've tried it. Most any way you want to do it is fine. Another good trick is to wrap a piece of carpet ot burlap around a tree and staple or nail it in place, then pour used motor oil on it.....the hogs will go crazy over it. Do this near your feeder ......good luck

Title: Re: Hog Baiting Post by: clint on May 21, 2010, 07:17:03 am Dig about a 3-4 foot hole with post hole diggers then pour soured corn, corn with koolaid or whatever u like. Fill it up about 8" then put dirt on top of it, then more bait, then more dirt,. Keep repeating till you fill the hole up... Make sure u top it off with dirt then sprinkle a little corn on top. They can smell the corn at the very bottom and will keep coming back till every kernel is gone.. And that hole will be blowed out the size of a truck lol and the good thing Is it'll last for weeks because it takes em awhile to get all the corn

But it dont stop me from swinging by known deer feeders on some of the places I hunt! ;D. I have a friend in Louisiana that swears by the sow in heat stuff! He claims to catch nothing but boars around his "drip stations". |
