Update this post with pics in about 8 weeks and I bet they will all be yellow. Lots of yellow dogs start their life out nearly all black.

They do change color as they grow older, but I tell you, You dont hardly see the ole black cur dog anymore. They say that the red, and black ones were throwbacks, I disagree... Everyone I ever came into contact with made some jam up dogs....

we have a littler of pups now and 2 look like that pup also.  the sire to our pups...mother (the pups great gram ma) was the ole traditional cur dog.  However the sire is yellow and we bred him back to his grandaughter and both being yellow...threw back 2 black reversed pups.   We also have him bred to our manin yellow black mouth gyp and she is due in 2 weeks but all of her pups with him will be ybm...no blacks?  together they have thrown one red pup out of 18 ( 2 liters).

Just thought I would share our experience.

If they look like the one chainrated has there then I would say they are going to stay that way and you are lucky.  I don't know whether they make better dogs but I sure would like to have one one day.  Just different looking and I like that.

That pup in the pic is a catahoula. Looks just like a reverse blackmouth, everyone that sees him thinks thats what he is.. He's the only one out of the line that I've ever seen colored like that. He's about 2 now and looks exactly the same. Wish I had some more.. Scott, that's woodrows brother..

Waylon has a dog like that and Krystal used to have a dog named blackie that was like that and Mandi has lizzie that looks like that and two out of those three I know for sure are not full BMC.  They are rare to say the least.

I don't know where the reverse black mouth comes from, but I sure like them.  Lizzie is just a cur dog out of Doc Clampit's stock, my understanding is that he bred what worked, BMC, Cat, Lacy, etc...whatever got the job done.    LIzzie also has a grandpup, Dan, that is reverse.

Here's Lizzie

A good many of our dogs are what I would consider Saddleback, but not reverse.  The foundation dogs for this line were all yellow.

The most recent breeding my hunting partner produced showed the first "reverse" colored dogs, but this was also the first time two saddlebacks were bred together.  Prior breedings have always been yellow X yellow, or yellow X saddleback.  This pup below (born Feb. 20th), is the only pup out of the last litter that looks to be saddleback.  She was dark like the others, but with time the hair on top of her head is lightening up.  My litter born last May was a yellow X saddleback and all nine pups were solid yellow.

Nope...completely unrelated novelty dogs.

The brindle pups are Bonnie and Clyde...two full blood Parkers.  I've always heard the Parkers have a hunting style very similar to my dogs, but full blood ones are scarce as hens teeth.  I aim to find out.

they are cur dogs..blackmouth cur dogs..they aren't just general cur dogs. we call them reverse colored because a typical bmc is mostly yellow with the black mouth and black on the bottom of the legs...well these "reverse" colored ones have the same pattern but their color is opposite of the typical hence reverseing the yellow with black....

i have always herd people call the first pic on the thread a saddle back and a cur that looks like a black and tan hound a reverse blackmouth.
