Makes sence if they didnt amount to anything but some dogs are hard to replace. If they was good dogs they would be worth feeding in my opinion.

I would like to think that over time my dogs would grow partial to me just like i do to them, and it takes time for dogs to hunt at there best together... why start all over each year?

I Just dont understand not hunting during the summer, If the dogs are condition they should have a very low chance of stroking out, start way earlier or hunt at night. I understand that the % chance of a dog stroking during summer months goes up incredibley but I say this, I have too much time in my dogs to sell them or keep them pinned up and not use them because its hot.

I agree, it is still 75 80 at nights, and early moring is still very nice weather, i dont see a problem with late evening night and moring hunts

There are guys with snake issues that just dont even chance it,  and that brings up another topic, I had to take my girls aussie to the vet and i saw a poster on snake bite shots,  does anyone use those?

I have issues with snakes probily more than most, but my drive to hunt overcomes that phobia. The fella that the post is about is probily better off that most and can afford to go and buy some top notch dogs when he wants too. I dont have that luxery So Ill keep mine and hunt them all year.

I'm just curious where (for any amount of money) all these top notch dogs are located that are readily available to be purchased?

I haven't even SEEN that many dogs that truly would suit me, much less any for sale...

I don't understand this method of selling out during the summer, doesn't make a lick of sense to me. I've been striving, as most of us here have, for years to come up with dogs that suit me and I enjoy hunting with. I'd no more sell them than I would the heater for my house just because it's hot weather and I don't need it right now. I HATE summer.....pure HATE it.....I don't enjoy hunting in the heat and I don't care much for night hunting, so I'm just kinds stuck during the hot months until it cools of just a bit in the early morning again. Do you reckon this guy was just running his mouth or was he serious?

i have seen people do this with deer dogs almost every year. But it is alot of difference between deer dogs and hog dogs. Just maybe he has lots of hogs and it don't take very good dogs or like said before he's just got plenty of money. But it is hard for me to believe he can get top notch dogs every year. Maybe you need to check his dogs out next year. Probably could purchase them cheap.

I'll trust your judgement on the guy then,.....he probably was just blowing his own horn to hear the note. For some reason there's a percentage of the hunters that seem to have to do that when they meet somebody new. I'm thinking hillbilly has the right idea....y'all need to keep up with this guy and if his dogs are any count, buy them when he gets ready to sell out!!!
