Title: How did yall do? Post by: got2catchem on September 01, 2008, 10:08:07 pm Dove season opened today. Got 7 this morning and shot 3 boxes of shells. Did'nt even fill up a small zip-lock bag with meat.....lol

I tried to call you Sunday evening to invite you out to the big annual hunt here Monday morning. We had about 40 guys out, and most everyone who is a decent shot (which excludes myself) got limits. Lots of birds flying. I, on the other hand basically embarassed myself. Braydon (my six year old) was sitting beside me and at one point looked up and said, "Dad...when we get back to the trailers...and people ask you how many you shot....you should probably just say you forgot... 'cause if you tell the truth they'll say your the "baddest" dove hunter ever!" I laughed pretty hard for a minute, then he said (without even cracking a smile), "What's funny, Dad?" Thats when I proceeded to stand up, gathered my shell casings, folded up our chairs and headed back towards the truck. Title: Re: How did yall do? Post by: got2catchem on September 03, 2008, 12:09:00 am ;D I was in a field of dried-up sunflowers that a buddy of mine had shredded rows in. Most of the guys, I hunted with got limits also. I did'nt feel so bad about not getting my limit because as I was leaving, I ran into another guy that had permission to hunt the place and he had a pile of empty shells(had to be almost half a case worth) and 3 doves that he was very proud of. I seen him later on that afternoon, and with a smile on his face, he said he was heading back to the same place to try and get his limit. This old feller was really enjoying himself and I guess that is what it all boils down to.
