Title: Walker Coss HOG DOG! Post by: TShelly on July 08, 2010, 11:47:22 am I have a 1/2 Walker, 1/4 BMC, 1/4 Pit gyp that is just over 2 years old. Ive raised her since a pup and have put alot of time in her.. Im not really looking to sell her as she is my best dog right now, but Im a senior Biology major at SHSU and the $$ would really help right now and I havnt been hunting much soo..
She's been hog crazy since I put her in the pen at 3 months old, by 5 months her and her sister were running tracks and helping the big dogs catch hogs. At about 8 months old she found her first hog, and has probably found 20-30 already since then. She's been in on 100-150 hogs total already in her short life. She's long range, tracking collar a must! She hunts extremely hard burning up the woods, she is mouthy on track but its a cur dog bark, not a hound bawl.. She's REALLY rough and fast which makes up for her mouth. She considered herself as a CD for a while but @ 6 months old she decided to catch a nasty 260# boar hog, he cut her pretty good and since then she's learned to back up on the big boys. She has been cut down some and has the marks to prove it, this last spring her and my other pups were feelin froggy and caught a 200# boar hog.. Well he broke the tip of her jaw and her left k9 hangs a little to the left now, its totally healed though and doesnt effect her! She's not a finished dog as she's only 2 and can get a little trashy on deer if she's not hunted in a few months. She's what i would consider a natural and will only get better with time. If I hunted more by myself she would no doubt have found more hogs for me, but I generally hunt with some guys that have some really JAM up finished dogs and she doesnt get much credit ..but already this year a good many times she found hogs in front of those dogs.
