Title: Older pup question
Post by: Jared H. on July 23, 2010, 09:10:13 pm
I got a couple of 8 month old catahoula/plott pups today.  They are beatiful pups but much smaller than I pictured a 8 month old dog.  The dad was a big plott and the mama was a medium size catahoula.  Has anyone ever seen this before?

Do they look healthy it's possible to stunt the growth of a pup without proper feed and worming it can set them back .

The ones that I have had are slow growers but grow untill they are nearly two. How much do they weigh?

Yeah they look healthy.  They could use a little more weight for how I like them.  They were raised around a lot of dogs.  Is it too late if they are stunted?

I'd worm them regular and pour the feed to them the'll probaly grow more give them a good feed they like and you should see the difference  like silverton said  some grow until about two years

I really like these two and they come out of hunting parents.  Its hard to tell from this pic but I'm just seeing what yall think.

Looks like they will be fine to me, throw them some hog quarters and see what happens, raw meat and lots of it will grow them I bet.

Good looking pups, I have found that they go through growth spurts like children do. I went on a 4 day trip awhile back and cam home and thought my 8 month old cur pup doubled his size.

I wormed them and went ahead and gave them each a 7 in 1 shot just in case.  I fed em twice today with a little bit of wet food the second time and I dont think they took time to chew the food.  They dont really look it but they act like they were starving.  Im glad I got them and look forward to bringing back to where they should be.  They look like they should make some good dogs.

As soon as I get another hog theyre definetly gonna get some of it.   Thanks for the advice.  I looked back at some pics of your pups and man you have some good looking dogs.  These look similar just smaller.  I hope they turn out at least half as good as yours.
