Title: Older pup question Post by: Jared H. on July 23, 2010, 09:10:13 pm I got a couple of 8 month old catahoula/plott pups today. They are beatiful pups but much smaller than I pictured a 8 month old dog. The dad was a big plott and the mama was a medium size catahoula. Has anyone ever seen this before?
Title: Re: New pup question Post by: Yeller on July 23, 2010, 09:15:20 pm Do they look healthy it's possible to stunt the growth of a pup without proper feed and worming it can set them back .
Title: Re: New pup question Post by: Silverton Boar Dogs on July 23, 2010, 09:18:01 pm The ones that I have had are slow growers but grow untill they are nearly two. How much do they weigh?
Title: Re: New pup question Post by: Jared H. on July 23, 2010, 09:18:26 pm Yeah they look healthy. They could use a little more weight for how I like them. They were raised around a lot of dogs. Is it too late if they are stunted?
Title: Re: New pup question Post by: Jared H. on July 23, 2010, 09:19:25 pm They probably weigh 20lbs. Maybe a little more.
Title: Re: New pup question Post by: Yeller on July 23, 2010, 09:28:33 pm I'd worm them regular and pour the feed to them the'll probaly grow more give them a good feed they like and you should see the difference like silverton said some grow until about two years

(http://i674.photobucket.com/albums/vv101/jet308/downsize.jpg) I really like these two and they come out of hunting parents. Its hard to tell from this pic but I'm just seeing what yall think. Title: Re: New pup question Post by: Silverton Boar Dogs on July 23, 2010, 10:19:44 pm Looks like they will be fine to me, throw them some hog quarters and see what happens, raw meat and lots of it will grow them I bet.
Title: Re: Older pup question Post by: BIG BEN on July 24, 2010, 12:23:26 pm Good looking pups, I have found that they go through growth spurts like children do. I went on a 4 day trip awhile back and cam home and thought my 8 month old cur pup doubled his size.
Title: Re: Older pup question Post by: Jared H. on July 24, 2010, 09:41:25 pm I wormed them and went ahead and gave them each a 7 in 1 shot just in case. I fed em twice today with a little bit of wet food the second time and I dont think they took time to chew the food. They dont really look it but they act like they were starving. Im glad I got them and look forward to bringing back to where they should be. They look like they should make some good dogs.

As soon as I get another hog theyre definetly gonna get some of it. Thanks for the advice. I looked back at some pics of your pups and man you have some good looking dogs. These look similar just smaller. I hope they turn out at least half as good as yours. Title: Re: Older pup question Post by: Yeller on July 24, 2010, 09:45:43 pm Nice lookin pups with all that leg the've got I think the'll fill on out to be good sized dogs
