EAST TEXAS HOG DOGGERS FORUM

Early this morning Joe, Ray and I got together to hunt. We started off pretty promising finding tracks that looked pretty fresh & dogs with their noses in the air working out the scent. Heck even Joe could smell them Smiley After a nice walk the dogs got on something hot & in no time we heard a bay. Titus shot off with the Dogos &  we started hoofing it out after them. Now I'm not a very big person & I consider myself to be pretty limber but man, I couldn't wrap my mind around getting through this group of vines while Joe & Ray skimmed through them like freakin ninjas! It seemed like it took forever for me to get through them & when I did Joe & Ray were there with the catch dogs & Yeller and a nice boar weighing about 150lbs. Joe told me to grab a leg & so I did and shortly after I was dumped on my butt (but I held on!). Before doing that I handed my camera to Ray and he got off a few blurred shots of the struggle. In the end the boar didn't win, and I finally got my first pig thanks to Joe Smiley

It was also Yellers first hog too :) Joe thanks for letting me walk with you and your dogs, I had a great time! Now I guess my pretty dog has graduated from being useless, to just marginally useless right?

Krystal it's between you, Joe & Mr. Mason I owe that big red dog's progress. Titus is now barely moving unless he thinks someone might drop something in the kitchen :)

Thanks for the great compliments! Training with my dogs has been one of the most rewarding experiences outside of my kids. This is the icing on the cake for me!

I agree John, this all worked out beautifully for our first. It was well worth the wait! I had fun hunting with you too and I really enjoyed listening to you about tracking, hunting & all that jazz. I've been very fortunate to have alot of folks willing to teach me about this event they love!

My wife has taken a liking to ridgebacks. Kind of surprised me. I always thought she was more of a poodle person. I may have to get one someday.

I love my ridgebacks. I bet she'd be happy with one of the boys. They curl up with the kids every night & I don't have to worry about my house getting broken in to at all.

I dunno Joe. Not soon enough. It's so busy up here! Been working nonstop. Hoping to come back to move the family in the  not too distant future.

Sean (Machine73) and I had a "my dogs vs your dogs" thing going too. In the beginning he swore up & down that my red boy would not hunt right and it'd be better if I just left him home. My "purty" dogs were totally useless hunting hogs in his eyes. This is the dog he bought the pink cut collar for (shortly after he did that I taught his newest Jagd to come to "here kitty kitty kitty"). So you can see this was an escalation. Now I've stopped calling his Jagds rats & he's stopped calling my dogs useless!

I'm not saying my boy is the be all & end all of anything. We have a long road ahead of us but at least now he's proved himself to be more than just a show dog ya know? I can live with that  ;D ;D ;D

Isn't it my sworn duty as his wife to make his life difficult? You should've seen his face the first time I shouted that & his little jagd came runnin'! If looks could kill I would've burst into flames right there  >:D

His other dog thinks her name is "Hilde Bad Dog" & wags her little docked tail at you when you say that to her. I have no idea who could've taught her that  ;)

Does straight catch mean he goes in and catches with out baying? If so, yes. If not put it in blond terms & I'll answer as well as I can  ;D
