My white dog is loosing her hair. The skin around the neck and under the ears has hair loss, bumps and part is scabbed. There are small spots on her sides where the hair is gone. I put Nu-stock on and part looks better. But is is hard to get all over. Is there a dip that works? I am not sure what the problem is. It may be the heat. But I need a little help figuring it out.

I have an AB with the same problem. All I can figure is the heat, it is really hard on her. I would love to find a way to fix it other than bringing her in the house to cool her down. She looks horrible.

do to the heat/especially dry conditions alot of dogs are having trouble with fleas and scratching, the hair loss and scabs around the ears and throat tells me most likely from scratching.

other possibility is allergies.

I GOT THE SAME PROBLEM WITH ONE OF MY PITS...BUT I DONT THINK ITS A FLEA PROBLEM CUZ NONE OF MY OTHER DOGS HAVE THE PROBLEM.

I HAD A FRIEND THAT HAD SOME HOUSE DOGS THAT DID THE SAME THING AND SHE TOOK EM TO THE VET AND IT TURNED OUT TO BE HEREDITARY MANGE AND THE VET SAID THAT EVERY DOG IN THAT LITTER WILL GET IT. SOME MAY GET IT WORSE THAN OTHER LITTER MATES.  I HAD TOLD MY FRIEND ABOUT NU STOCK AND OTHER METHODS TO CURE IT BUT NOTHING WORKED AND SHE ASKED THE VET Y IT DIDNT WORK AND THE VET SAID THAT NU STOCK WILL HELP IT SOME BUT BECAUSE ITS HEREDITARY MANGE AND NOT REGULAR MANGE THAT IT WOULDNT CLEAR IT COMPLETELY

WHEN I TALK TO HER AGAIN ILL FIND OUT WHAT THE VET ENDED UP DOING TO CLEAR IT COMPLETELY AND IL POST IT ON HERE FOR YOU GUYS

X2 I have a dogo and a cur that were having the same problem I put Nu-Stock on the affected areas and took them baths with Dawn both of them are getting there hair back and no more scratching....This heat and the fleas especially in our area where the ground gets dusty is real bad.

I also used the Nu stock and Dawn. 
But to make it alittle cheaper, you can buy straight sulfur and some mineral or baby oil and mix it yourself.
I bought a small tub of sulfur at tractor supply for about 6 bucks.

If the dog has an allergy to fleas, it only takes one flea bite, you don't have to havea flea problem or any fleas, but get one or two bites from a passer by.

My JRT, has bad flea allergies he is a house dog that stays on Comfortis, the flea dies after it bites him but still causes a reaction of itching and scratching.

Dub you dog may also be dealing with stress related issues, several of mine (not related) are having a very thin and dry coats right now, and it has alot to do with this long drawn out length of heat we are having (I am sure of it) If she was recently spayed, or any other hormonal issues with cause them to blow their coats, just like having pups will do to some gyps.

We have a white westie that is allergic to flea bites. The vet said one bite and it will trigger a reaction which includes bumps, scabs and hair loss. Looks just like the mange.

I had that happen to some of my puppies the vet said it is bc the heat and the momma didnt clean them like she should have. Probably due to the heat. Anyways i have been washing them with Iodine shampoo and putting mineral oil on the spots. They look kinda silly bc the hair is different lenghts but its growing back fast.

Im not sure what kinda mites it was but I seen a dog that a guy had near lufkin when I was there picking up a pup that was hair less it was a BMC male. He said vet kept the dog for months and could not get rid of them said it was very rare. The dog look like one of those hairless cats.

Years ago an old time breeder gave me a recipe which it called for 1 pint mineral oil 1 cup malathion 50 and several inches of sulfur in the bottom of the container. Mix this up and rub it in to the dogs skin and hair. It worked but it was smelly.

Used Nu-stock but it is the heat. Started making the dogs get in the water during the day. But now it is cooling off and it is starting to look better.

Gota gyp that had a problem somethin like that asked my uncle what he would do. He told me Burnt oil. So i got some from work poured it on her rubed it in real good. She stayed black for awhile but other than that all her hair came back an shes all cleared up. Got rid of the fleas she had too.

X2  thats what i use if i have any hair loss issues burnt motor oil,  has to be burnt "used"  tho.

CO, I believe the mange the vet was referring you to was "RED MANGE", yes it is hereditary.  Not sure about every pup in a litter getting though, genetics for that disease would have to line up exactly on the DNA chain the same, why do we get different colors out of one litter of pups. ?????

the problem yall are havin definately sounds like the red mange. i have had two dogs get it. and every pup in the litter eventually got it. one dog was a pit the other was a cur. it is hereditary (spelling?) from the mother only. the father cant pass it on. its not passed on by dna from what i understand. its passed on from the pregnancy and the mothers blood. i got this stuff from the vet that you put on the neck like you do flea and tick meds. they recommend three doses, one each month for three months. mine started growing the hair back within two weeks after the first dose. not all vets carry that med either. some dont even know about it. had to go to shreveport la to a vet off of north market. dont let the vet talk you into bringing the dog back weekly to get dipped. this stuff works way better and not to mention it will only cost you $20 per dose. the dipping will cost you a couple hundred and a lot of time. this stuff you do yourself.
