Title: Deer hunters
Post by: So Oklahoma Cur Dogs on October 19, 2008, 12:34:51 am
Anybody ever have any luck hunting around persimon trees? I just found a big open area full of them. I'm thinking of moving my stand into this area. I've been hunting a real promising area with a trail leading into a funnel and a pin oak dropping acorns like crazy.  Yesterday, the first day I hunted it I got busted when the wind shifted on me, by a doe with a fawn. I hunted it today and didn't see any thing. I hate to leave a good spot but all those persimon trees got me wondering if it might be a better spot.

If you've got persimmon trees in the area, I'm shocked that the deer would be anywhere else.  They flock to them like candy.  Set up on them & don't think twice.  Good luck.

I'm moving my stand sat. All the acorns are gone from the oak tree I've been hunting under. A week ago it was full of them and they were droping like rain. I'm amazed at how that tree was wiped clean even on the ground. I just saw two deer and hunted it four times. Bushy tails were thicker than I ever saw anywhere. Sunday I had a small group of hogs show up under me and feed for along time. That was neat. They stayed till after dark and I finaly yelled at them to run them off before I got down.
