Title: With all the fascination of "one-out" hunting... Post by: Bryant on October 28, 2008, 04:49:48 pm ...My hunt Sunday would have made the Bloom Brothers proud.
We started off on a place and didn't find much sign. Finally caught the dogs and moved down the county road to an adjoining place. We let the dogs out, and I walked to shut the gate behind us. One of the guys who is a tad impatient left on his wheeler to ride the dogs down the brush line. We stayed behind to shoot the bull and have a refreshment and would catch up in a bit. About 10 minutes later, we look the other direction to see what must have been 40 hogs crossing an open plowed field. We fired up the wheelers and hauled tail that way. I got within 40 or so yards, slammed on the brakes, ran back and cut Zeus loose. (We didn't have any bay dogs with us). He left like a freight train, another guy cut in front of the hogs and turned them back to us. WHAM! Zeus slammed the biggest of the group and took that sucker DOWN! My six year old was so excited standing on the four wheeler seat he was squealing and hollering like a cheerleader! We fired up and went over to hobble the hog. Before we even hobbled it, another guy sat on the hog and I broke Zeus off. Hogs were still running. I pointed him that way and again he left like lightning. Within a flash, second big boar caught. In all the excitement, another hunting partner dumped his box which consisted of two four month old pups who were just along for the ride. Those pups caught and held the piglet in the pics and stayed caught until we had both boars hobbled and got back to them. Those little suckers are liable to be pretty gritty! (and this was there first look at a hog!). One of the other guys on a four wheeler got good video of all this going down, and I'm in the process of getting a copy and will try to post it. Very exciting! Another mark for "Zeus-The-Superdog" !! ALL CAUGHT ONE-OUT! First Pic- Trying to get him back on the buggy after two running-catches. Second Pic - He wouldn't stop leaning over and biting the boar, so we moved him to my other wheeler. Third - Second Boar loaded in the buggy. As the pics shows, he was checking out the welds. Fourth & Fifth- In the Stock trailer headed for market. Some nice chump-change for beverages and steaks at the deer camp this weekend! When we loaded them together, you never seen quite a fight as those two boars going at it for a few minutes! Sixth - Little piglet we kept which will make a fine training hog for the pups. I bet the kids loved that hunt. Do you have any current pics of Clorox? Title: Re: With all the fascination of "one-out" hunting... Post by: Bryant on October 30, 2008, 08:30:06 am Mr. Mason,
You're very welcome to use any pic I post. I owe you a cheer of thanks for thinking of and calling me whenever Zeus became available. Because of my two young boys, I had different criteria requirements in a catchdog than some. When I became a "catcher", rather than a "bay-and-shooter" Zeus fit the bill perfectly. He's extremely gamey, but also has a LOT of self control. Very well rounded dog, and I'm just as excited to start working his brother. Circle C, Speaking of Zeus' brother, I will post some pics of Clorox soon. He's on his way to perhaps being a slight bit larger than Zeus. He's as tall now, but not as filled out. I have checked his prey-drive, and he will definately catch a hog. He's growing fast, and eats like a horse. I switch his kennel location about every two weeks; he has spent time living with each male I own. So far, no probs. Title: Re: With all the fascination of "one-out" hunting... Post by: elliscountyhog on October 30, 2008, 08:41:21 am That is what i like to see in a good catchdog LEGS ;D, I bet brayden loved watching the dog run down them hogs, then i bet he beat em with some switch grass ;D ;D.. Good hogs

Beautiful Dog! Looks like the vest fits him well....LOVE the patch over the eye.... Title: Re: With all the fascination of "one-out" hunting... Post by: Bryant on October 30, 2008, 10:48:09 am LOVE the patch over the eye.... Yea...I believe Krystal bred both those eye patches in. Helps with glare just like football players use. J/K! ...If you only knew what that vest ended up costing me!! Title: Re: With all the fascination of "one-out" hunting... Post by: longshot on October 31, 2008, 04:08:52 pm Bryant,
Glad to hear Zues is still doing good. I have found Rhino to be very gamey as well. Last week he was cut loose to a bay that broke and I picked him up 2.5miles from where we cut loose(watched the odometer on the truck as we followed them). He was wearing his kevlar vest and not even warm or winded and still looking for the hog when I leashed him. Thanks for the pics Longshot Title: Re: With all the fascination of "one-out" hunting... Title: Re: With all the fascination of "one-out" hunting... Post by: Bryant on November 04, 2008, 03:16:06 pm Went to my hunting partners to connect his camera to my laptop and download the video. Come to find out, he only got video of the caught hogs and us loading things back up. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. I had understood him to tell me that he started the video on our race across the field towards the group. Thats my luck...
