Title: Re: hog dog or no Post by: dub on October 17, 2010, 07:46:22 pm No! Just kidding. I saw someone using only labs for hog removal so they should do the job. But just like any dog some will do it and others won't. The dog will do it if it wants to.
Title: Re: hog dog or no Post by: Caughtandhobbled on October 17, 2010, 07:53:35 pm I had a lab for a bird dog, she was a good one at that. One day I was at the ranch working on deer blinds and I let her and a couple young dogs tag along for exercise. The youngsters struck a hog and stopped it, the lab hit the hog on the ear like a seasoned CD. She was to valuable to me as a bird dog so that was her first and last one. Who knows they may work, their very smart and athletic.

Title: Re: hog dog or no Post by: catch-n-tie on October 17, 2010, 09:19:47 pm i bought a CD from a guy in Houston that had two in his pack. he had a five acre wooded pen to show me the dog would go to the bay and catch and he used the labs to find a bay. my buddies wife has a weener dog that will bay the heck out of a hog. so why not labs. might not be very rangy though.

Title: Re: hog dog or no Post by: BarrNinja on October 18, 2010, 10:28:42 am The truth is that you never know unless you try her. Its that way with any dog regardless of how its bred.
But........................Would you try a good bred cur or hound as a retriever or bird dog? It dont make much since to me but there is always exceptions. Good luck.
