Lawrence,
Nice hog, I am glad you got him.    Do you think that is the one that killed Matts Jewels dog?

Aw come on Des tell us the story man.  I will give a little back ground on the hog, it killed my catch dog last year and cost me about $1500 at the vet with one of my bay dog.  These pics show the hog but I don't think anything other that scars and vet receipts show the attitude that this hog had, he was a MEAN SOB and last I heard weighed in at 295lbs with about 2.5" teeth that were 2" around.  Good job guys!  I am glad he is outta there!!

Well, we finally got him!!!  He was a tuff SOB but he finally went down.  So we started this hog right off the bat, we turned the dogs loose and about 5 minutes we heard Des's dog scar open up, and about that time i heard a dog get hit and sounded bad.  So we started off into some thick brush makin our way there.  we get there and they have him bayed up in a creek bed, a hog hunters dream bay, ;D we didnt want to turn the catch dogs loose because we knew this hog was in these woods.  So i eased up there to get a peek with Des's iron catch dog, and i took a shot and sad to say i think i missed, so i reloaded and shot again and watched him run off.  Very discouraged and after a few choice words we made our way back to our ride.  But the dogs were still on his A$$  so we headed to him.  We came across one of my dog Kasey and she had taken a good shot in the chest, so Des's two dogs Sandy and Scar were leadin the show.  They finally got him stopped about a mile to 1 and 1/2 miles down the creek.  So we finally got to the bay again and i ease in there about 20 to 25 yds away.  And i have to say i was a little scared.  the hog was layin down and one of them dogs got to close and he got up and brushed em back and took another shot.  he was hit good this time but still goin hard.  He ran about another 500 to 600 yds and bayed up again in the creek and that was the last place he stood.  one more shot in the head and he went down.  After a few hell yeahs and high fives we went down to examine our trophy.  This is a special hog to us cuz of a the hell he has gave us.  I ended up shootin him 3 times  and he still ran about 2 miles.  It was an awesome.  Thanks Des for comin out we couldnt have done it without you.  And the first dog we heard get hit was my dog Tex and he got cut up really bad.  Thanks to Dr. Des I think he is gonna make it.  I tell you what Des is a good guy to have with you out there, he has great dogs and is one helluva dog doctor.  Oh and we had 4 dogs on the ground and all got at least one cut.  And Cody he's already shoulder skinned out and in the freezer.  Wt 295 lbs, and 2.25 and 2.5 inch tusks.  He was one bad dude.

Man, i'm glad he's finally out of the woods! ;D

I way over-estimated his size from our first run-in with him. The second time, we bayed him about an hour one night in a thicket, had Matt's catch dog "Marlin" along with us and could never get a shot. He finally had enough and blew out and left the country.

Tha's an old, smart hog, one to be proud of... way to go guys!

You know Mike and I were talking and it makes you wonder after looking these pictures up close if this hog ever had ears to begin with.  The night that we "cought" this hog he never stopped moving with 200lbs of bulldogs on him and four cur dogs and then the pics shortly after just show white skin where his ears should have been.  Then fast forward a year and there isn't even a stitch of ear left on either side of this hog.  Kinda makes you wonder if his ears weren't cut off long ago.  We will never know for sure but it sure is odd to see how cleanly they were removed from his head.

Scott those yellow dogs are doing fine no worries the only thing that sucks is they cost me money to hunt them surtures, antiboitics, cooked food and time off but they will shorten a race.

Awesome hog fellas!  I still remember the first time Sean, Matt, and Mike showed me a picture of that bad boy.  He looks like a hand full to say the least.

What caliber did you shoot him with?

Great hog, major props to the dogs that stopped a known dog killer!  We caught a boar just like that a few yrs back.. sent the CD in from 10yds and nothing but broke bay.... chased the bay to a canal and found the no eared boar caught by the jaw in 6' of water, drowning all the dogs, jumped in and pulled the whole bunch to the bank.  Crazy how those chewed off/cut off ears heal flush and clean to the head
