Title: Good Boar (Pics) Post by: Marshall on November 03, 2010, 02:30:49 pm My friend with 300 acres high fenced called me and said that he he has some shoats in his pen and wants them out. I got there on Saturday AM and I turned the dogs loose and within about 30 seconds had this 1st red boar shoat caught by the cur dogs. I tied him and put him in the trailer and continued down the creek.
(http://i373.photobucket.com/albums/oo176/Marshall_022/PineCreek.jpg) Immediately the dogs all roll out on another hog and I notice my Kemmer gyp, MJ, has split off on another hog by herself. I hear her bay 400 yds away while the other dogs are still running thier hog. I drive over there and MJ has gotten out of the high fence, and is baying back into the fence at a black shoat that is standing there by the fence. When we pull up the shoat breaks and runs off with no dogs on it, and MJ cant get back in the fence. I finally get her caught and back in the high fence and she rolls out strait to the other race. The ranch owners 7th grade grandson tells me to ride with him so I jump on the back of his 4wheeler. We head that way and come into an opening and all I can see is dust flying around in the middle of the pasture. Then I see a big boar hog slinging dogs. All my dogs where on him, even my 8 month old Kemmer pups. They are hammering down in him like they knew exactly what was going on. As we pull up on the 4wheeler the hog tries to break and run back to the thicket. Well, the 7th grader that is driving me around runs smooth overthe hog, and I bail off and start chasing the hog across and pasture and grab him by the tip of his tail and flip him with no catch dog. About that time the ranch owner pulls up and is shocked to see that big boar that has been hiding in his high fence, eating his protein. We take a few pictures and take him to the trailer. (http://i373.photobucket.com/albums/oo176/Marshall_022/PineCreekR.jpg) (http://i373.photobucket.com/albums/oo176/Marshall_022/IMG00180-20101030-0919.jpg) (http://i373.photobucket.com/albums/oo176/Marshall_022/IMG00179-20101030-0918.jpg) I then head the dogs back down the creek to look for that shoat that got away earlier. I have all my dogs with me and after about 10 minutes I walk by a briar patch and hear some thing behind me and see my 4 Kemmer pups chasing something through the grass. At first I thought they had jumped an armadillo, but then they caught, and the squealing began! They found that shoat laid up in those briars over all my older dogs! We got him caught and tied, and called it a day. All the dogs hunted like champs, and never ran his deer. Title: Re: Good Boar (Pics) Post by: Bandit on November 03, 2010, 02:36:56 pm good hogs

Title: Re: Good Boar (Pics) Post by: Marshall on November 04, 2010, 08:54:35 am Thanks for the comments guys. Yeah it got western pretty quick. Ha We had fun. I was proud of that kid (Ryan). He is guna make a hand one day. I am pretty sure he caught the hog doggin bug after all that! ha
LionandBoarHunter - No she's only 3/4 Walker and is 1/8 BMC and 1/8 Pit. She is almost 15 months old and has found about 20 hogs on her own. She hates hogs!! She is getting to where we are having to choke her off when she catches. Reuben - All 4 of my pups are doing great. They will get in the races and you can tell they really want it. I bred MJ back to Bud and she should have that litter around Nov. 29. How are your pups doing? Title: Re: Good Boar (Pics) Post by: chainrated on November 04, 2010, 04:42:23 pm Nice horns..
