So far so good, hauled 5 people and three dogs without any trouble. Not sure what it will do in the mud, but hey, that's what the winch is for, right? Hoping to get started with the mods this week. Front basket, dog box, and stereo.

Thats awesome bro, can't wait to see it in person.  I like the new 4010 look, kinda looks like a little Hummer haha.  I like the double drink holders as well, I am always trying to cram more stuff into my single drink holder.  Can't wait to see what you come up with for the mods  ;D

Don't forget to strap on the pontoons. ;D
I'd also suggest a gear box on the roof, surely the water won't ever get that high.

Slim,

That was a low blow....don't you know I learned my lesson after sinking the foreman :o

Actually, I had to be winched out again 3 weeks ago, I managed to find the only mud hole in 2,000 acres. It just so happens, that it was rack deep mud too. ;D

;D I've been looking for the pic of you and the foreman, but was unable to find it, so that I could attatch it here.
Not intended to be a low blow, just a friendly reminder. Actually, it sounds like something we have done, that's why I'm not gonna let you forget it.
By the way, people like you and I never learn a lesson, just great experiences with great memories. :D
It'd be boring if nothing like that ever happened on hunting trips, heck, that's what makes them fun.
That is a fine ride you got there, wish I could afford one, they are sure awesome. Maybe someday. :-[

Slim,

Here are some of my more memorable adventures.
This dozer had less then 40 hours on the unit at the time of this picture, and we were in the middle of a two year drought in South Texas
(http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p204/ccoughran/DSC00554.jpg)

17 Degrees that night
(http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p204/ccoughran/DSC00409.jpg)

This happened about 6 years and 75 pounds ago, I was better than 8 miles down a county road near my farm. Slipped off the road and down the hill, the man in the Chvey just happened to be out that way checking cattle, and he pulled me out. It was going to be a LONG walk home.

;D Love it, if you can't laugh at yourself, you can't laugh at anyone else, and I'm a funny SOB, so I can laugh at these.

Nice rig, I like the tires, what type are they?  I have the 3010 and 610, they go pretty good but are a bit bumpy.

Mike,

That skinny fella is me in a former life...hitting the scales at 335-340# now

Flatbroke,

The tires are Mudlite XTR 26" , I have some 27" like them on Mandi's foreman, they are smoother than a standard Mudlite, and they don't dig as bad as the Outlaw MST that are on my foreman.  I would compare them to a ITP 589, as they have real similar traits

Clay,

I looked for that pic...did not find it. ;)

Elliscounty2,

My neighbor has a Ranger that he bought a few months ago. He likes it, but he has also snapped 3 axles already.  Knowing how I treat equipment, I decided that a Mule was plenty for me, hard to trash a driveline when the power is so limited ;D

You sure did not waste no time in getting that thing! I sure like having something to lean my back up against, and a roof over my head in case it rains a little bit

Krystal,

I talked to Mike H after I called you, and he pretty much got me off of center about the trans. mule. I will post pictures once the front basket, rear dog box, and stereo are installed. Thankfully pink was not an optional color, or Mandi would have demanded pink.

Craig,

I have been told that I can F'up and anvil, and there are days that I believe it too!
BTW, the 24' trailer sold before I could get over there to pick it up.

CC, that's a bad ride you got there.  If you want to park it in Pearland, I'm sure we could get something worked out. ;)

circle c    I dont know what ranger your buddy has  but mine dont have axles its independent  suspension all the way around with the new dual controll arm set up in the front end with the HD suspension.  So he might be ridding a mule

I sure did like that rig, Chris.  I've thought several times about trading my four wheeler for one, but it would take major modifications to my trailer to make it condusive to haul it around.

When we were talking the other day about the guy that does the aluminum fabrication, someone standing there mentioned the guy that has an ad in Bayed Solid I believe?  If you come across that ad or a phone number will you send it my way?  Interested in talking to him about some custom work.

Thanks

Elliscounty2

It is a 2008 Ranger XP    Front CV Joint/axles are what has been snapping on his, he is running outlaws, so I am sure that has something to do with it as well.

Bryant,
I will let you know if I locate the man from Bayed Solid.

Yea the 09 ranger I bought has several upgrades to it.  And Ive heard several people say the outlaw tires cause several problems because of the way they are designed.  I was going to buy a set for my new rig but they ride real ruff.

I can see a big issue with the tires. Hell you probably cant turn with out rubbing the tires.

How much larger, taller/heavier, than stock are those tires on the ranger.  I do a lot of rock crawling in my jeep in the Sierra Mountains, Rubicon Trail etc.  and usually when larger tires are added, both in height and weight, without upgrading the rest of the components you experience breakage in the U-joints and axles, especially if the operator has a heavy foot.   do you this this could be his problem?  heavy acceleration while the front wheels are turned at full lock or close to it while  under duress or while in the air and catching the ground hard?

Flatbroke,

I am not sure what the factory tires are on a ranger. These are 29.5 outlaws.  The lugs on these tires are pretty aggressive, and I am sure they have something to do with the second and third breakage. However this same unit had a broken axle in the first few hours of use on factory tires too.  It may have been a bad axle from the factory, really not sure.  The Ranger in the picture is now for sale, and he is buying a 09 Ranger crew.  It's going to be like driving a crew cab truck through the woods. Those things are huge.

The factory tires on a ranger are only 26 inches.  My new 09 came with 26 inches but I want to go a little bigger just not shure with what style yet.  Outlaw tires look good, I just here they cause problems on several atvs and utvs.  If he buys that new 09 crew ranger man he can haul a whole army on it.
