Title: ETHD team, remember Wilbur?
Post by: slimpickins on November 19, 2010, 08:01:04 am
Some of you might remember when we caught Wilbur, at the Hunt for the Hungry of 2009.

He was likely less than a week old then, so he's about 19 months now.

I'm guessing he's around 300 now that we got him trimmed back down enough he can properly walk.

I bet this damn pig has eaten close to $500 worth of corn, not to mention the pumpkins, squash, watermelons, table scraps and alfalfa.
He hung his left cutter in the fence and pulled it out so it'll make an interesting skull someday. ;D

It's amazing how something the size of a chihuahua can grow to 300lbs in less than 2years!!  He's such a pet too!!  LOVES his belly rubbed and if you have a rake, he will follow you everywhere!!   ;D

That's cool !  We've got a boar we've had for 6 months he wasn't quite that small though and he's not that tame. He likes it when your coming with the food bucket almost come right up to ya. It was funny when we first got him when you came up to the pen he would take his snout and throw mud at you kids though it was great.

He is a fat and happy barr hog.  We cut him when he was about 2weeks old.  He's a gentle giant for the most part but I still "pay attention" when in the pen with him.  He can be like a bulldozer when he wants to be.

QUICK QUESTION

FOR THE PEOPLE THAT KEEP THESE WILD PIGS AS PETS OR FOR WHATEVER REASON DO YOU KNOCK THEIR CUTTERS OUT WHEN THEY GET THAT BIG OR JUST LET EM GO. I WAS ALWAYS CURIOUS?

We don't, so were real careful. He can get aggrivated at times so we watch him closely.
Since he came home, I've agreed to leave him be, but first time he bites or acts truly aggresive I'm making sausage that night.  ;D
Lucky for him, he hasn't, as we know when to quit messin with him.

Every time I walk in to the pen I look at them and say (the first one of y'all that draws blood dies and I'm killin the one next to ya as a warning to the rest) but the ones I've kept will rarely finish a charge if you stand you ground , but if you get up beside one or in between one of them and the side of the pen the nudging and shoving starts, I don't turn my back on them though lol. !!!
