Title: Got the Ranger boxes mounted today!
Post by: BarrNinja on November 21, 2010, 09:25:53 pm
Cutter, thanks again for looking after the boxes during the manufacturing. You definately went above and beyond!!! They came out great and me and stick-n-move couldnt be prouder!

We may not be able to catch a hog but we are sure going to look good trying!!!  ;D

We couldnt get stick-n-move's wife to put on a bikini and pose with the Rangers like the car magazines but we found the next best thing. Dogs!

Folks, if you are looking for a custom box that is built right then you need to contact Cutter Bay Kennel's buddy Dale. I cant get the material in Texas for much less than what he charged me for my box!

They fit like a glove!!!

If the dogs are half as good as them boxes look you should be able to wipe out the hog population just about anywhere...

LOL. If my dogs were half as good as my box looks I wouldnt need it.  ;D

We are hoping that the hogs will see us driving around in them and just surrender! Its part of my "shock and awe" hog war plan.   :D

Now you just need a good catahoula riding up top to let everyone know you are for real.

Looking good!

Boarninja, can you take a pic of how you mounted them. I know you said you were gonna use the Polaris bed attachment parts but I wanted to see how it came together. Dont worry about it if its too much trouble.
Thanks - Keith Rand

Sure bud! I actually took some pictures to show it in case somebody asked to see it and I will take more if needed. I was using 4 ranger locks on mine but stick-n-move forgot to order his so I loaned him two of mine.
After you get them installed, no tools are involved. Lift four latched in a matter of seconds and the box is ready to be lifted off.
I'll post them whan I get home.

Alan,

Are you going to be able to take yours in and out by yourself?  I know it is ackward with it being oversized.

I already have. I have a picture holding Bryan's box over my head. His is the lightest one though.

Yall got the wheels turning in my head with those boxes.  I've been sittin here wondering how I can build one to fit my Artic Cat.  The bed is a little smaller but I think I could cram about five dogs back there if I really needed to.  I weld iron but not alluminium.  I might just have to give it a try.  They look way too fine not to try it, and I like the weight difference.  Thanks for showing off.  LOL

One question about the water container on the box, is there a reason you went with the neck style filler rather than a typical screw on lid on the top of the water container?  And how do you dispense the water out of the container?  I really like the idea and it will be super handy for washing hands, cuts, and watering dogs.  Very well thought out.

His Florida buddy has a top fill spout.  He thought it would be easier to fill if it was "outside" the box.  Less water dripping down inside the box.  The exit hole is just inside the box under the driver side diamond plate.  Alan is going to put an elbow and valve coming out.  I'm sure he will post pics once he is finished.  The exit hole is 1/2".

I'm wanting to see some pics with his dogs inside the box.  I want to see what kind of room he has in there.  Can't wait to see swine up top.

Nice.....really nice!!! I want to trade mine in for aluminum. I wanted to do that in the beginning but none of these yahoos around here can get or weld aluminum. Thanks for sharing.

Matt, I ended up using a 1/2" quarter turn ball valve on my water tank. I also installed a 20" length of hose so that I can pull it out of the box for hand washing, cleaning stuff, and watering dogs on the ground if needed.
I will get some more pictures of it when I get home.
To avoid running wires for lighting, I installed a big battery powered LED light for the interior of my box that works pretty well so far. Im eager to see how long it last after a few bouncy hunts though. I have my doubts.

Now you just have to get off of work to use it.

No screws! Try industrial strength 2 sided tape! If my lights work half as good as the tape, I will get plenty of use out of them.

I think it is funny that dome light I installed is still hanging on haha. It works good just needs three triple A batteries, the lens just unscrews with a quarter turn.  I need one about twenty times hat bright to put in my trailer.

Did you actually think I would take something looking so purty to the woods and get it muddy and dirty? Us professional Internet hog hunters dont actually have to hunt our dogs and use out equipment do we?
Im going to be like 98% of these guys driving around the Houston area in those fancy, high dollar 4x4 trucks that never even get it dusty much less off road! lol

Josh I was home from Florida only a few days when an offshore job came up. In fact, I have not had a day off since the Florida hunt!
I plan to do something about that this weekend!

BTW, Robbie came by and picked up his box last night. Maybe he will post a few pictures when he gets it mounted. That double door box of his sure looked good!

Wish I had a picture of it. 7 in the box and 3 on top. I was hunting with young Ray and his grandfather John and SHSU11 that night. They were all average to large cure dogs and one 90 pound CD.

5/6 is a good number for the box and 2/3 on top. When I hunt by myself it is more than enough room for the few dogs I bring.
