Title: No need for round 3
Post by: longshot on November 11, 2008, 01:32:01 pm
WE KO'ed him in round 2.
I am 90% certain this is the same hog that bayed and then pitched Rhino and put this in his vest:

This is almost over 1 month later.
We started him off the same feeder and he ran the same way through the highfence and then bayed.   He ran about 800yards from looking on my new Garmin.

We stopped the truck 180yards from the bay started walking.  We heard the bay dogs caught\trying and turned Pickle loose from 106yards out.  When she hit we heard a squeal and a grunt and then silience agian.

Here is Twinkle and I(she was very mad at this hog)

nice chompers:

WE enlisted some help to hoist him(this will spoil you):

Matt,
Here is a pick of JJ's  Blue Tick for you.  He is also on the box when we were hanging the hog.

3 months ago I didnt think he was worth the bullet to put him down.  In that short time he has really turned on.   He just needed to mature a little he is only 18mo old but the light bulb is on now and it is BRIGHT!  It was neat to watch him flip the switch.

Very nice James, it is crazy to see a hog with teeth like that that still looks young judging by the rest of his teeth.  Glad you got to play with the new Garmin and see how it works.  Also that is a really good looking blue tick, do you know what blood line he is out of?  Congrats again, you are going to have to get a picture of all your toothy hog skulls side by side.

They've got plenty rocks to sharpen them on too!

280 lbs in the first pick
175 lbs in the truck
and 200 lbs hanging
Camera angle and distance do make a differance ;)
Heck of a Boar at any weight!--John

Weight:  202lbs

Left 3 1\4in
Right 3 1\8in

JHY,
The Blue tick will open when he hits a track and every 10-15sec when he warms it up.   He has been putting hogs at the end of them so I got no complaints.  All of my dogs still run slient even if the Bluetick opens.

I got bluetick in my bmc, and in my mt. curs, no more than an 1/8th in each, same grandad.  They will let a locator bark sometimes when they hit a hot track and then nothing else until they are looking at him.  Those blueticks have darn good noses on them!  I also got my male jagd back, or should say I have a trap out to catch him right now.  My buddy that wanted to try him let him run loose out in the country and he will not be caught by hand.  Cant wait to get a handle on him and get him in the woods.  Anyway, great hog and are you going to mount him?

Joey

Joey,
Naw I am not going to mount him.  I am just gonna bleach the skull.

Some of those Jagds can be wild as hell if they are not handled a lot early on.  That is the main reason I am using the line I am because they handle like a cur.

Very nice hog longshot.

Joey, I helped catch a Cur gyp once that was wild as all get out.  The only way we ever caught her was once she came in heat turned a male dog loose and after they got hung up she could'nt get away.  But she was not very happy >:(.

Thats Nothing!  My best strike dog, AJ, was so skittish of me and being in the city,(  Guy I got him from lives along way from anything), I used to take a big bobcat trap with me everytime that I went hunting.  When we got through we would just set the trap with some canned food and go get lunch or if we were planning to hunt their the next day we would just leave a shirt and some food.  That went on for three months until I got him lined out.  Now, anybody who hunts with him can catch him.  Which is the way I want it.  Anyway, the trap isnt working yet on the jagd and I have it camoflauged with hay bales.  I will probaly end up having to use a dog in heat to catch this little monster.

Longshot,
I still got a couple Goliaths and one 75lb bulldog that looks 110lb.  Ive been using him in Protection and obedience mostly, but it is getting cool again and he is going to let my pit have a lot of the winter off.  I agree with you on the euro mount, I just dont think that I am to a point where I want a life like wild boar hanging in the house.  My ex told me it would never happen and I am sure the next one will probaly say the same! lol  Once again nice boar and I will let you know how things are going with that jagd.  His grandmother is  Scott Alls Jewel or Girlfriend, on the dam side, and the sire is Richard Jones Wasaubi dog.
