Title: What do you do for a living?
Post by: SC Hog Wild on December 30, 2010, 08:22:30 am
I was reading all the comments from Mike's post on how everyone found ETHD and I think it was Purebreedcolt that mentioned we all have the same sport in common but we're all different...got me thinking; "I wonder what everyone does for a living?"

What do you do for a living? Other than catching hogs... ;D

I'm a branch manager of a underground utility supply co., we sell large diameter water & sewer pipe, fire hydrants, valve, etc., basically from the water tower to the water meter and from the sewer clean out to the treatment plant...

I run a PVF supply company that services the petrochem industry.
http://jkenterprises.com/

Also have a small freight/hotshot company.

Most of my day is spent at a desk, watching tv/movies on one screen and a mix of ETHD, Craigslist, FB on the other screen.

I work for the power supply, infrastructure company that serves the Houston, SE Texas area.  I am a service consultant.  I meet with people who need anything done involving power in a geographic area, discuss what needs to be done and creat a job that then gets turned into our lineman and they complete the work.  Since I serve the area around a small town I also do alot of small meetings and attend chamber luncheons, economic development meetings and I am a member of the rotary club.  I am happy doing what I do but I would like to have enough cows by the time I am 50 to retire and let that keep me busy....17 head and counting haha

I am a  Chemical Plant Retiree. Decided retirement life wasn't for me so I am working for Kelly Services now in Safety and Permit writing for a big rig right in the middle of hog heaven and lots of deer and other game... I have a 40" TV with all the channels in an explosion proof trailer with all the luxuries of home. I share the trailer with another permit writer so it is nice. This job is supposed to last 1.5 yrs more and after that back in a Chemical plant. :(

My ultimate goal is to be a day trader. Working toward that goal now.

I used to be a commercial construction superintendent and I was danggood @ it but being on the road wasn't for me. I make way less money now but my wife and I have never been happier. I always knew I was made for the simple life, maybe because I'm simple minded  ;D

Certified CNC technician,  I run a Computer Numeric Control  machine (lathe) all night at a local plant,  6 yrs.  We make hydrolic pump motors, for everything from lawn mowers to heavy equipment.

I have done about everything from driving a big rig, to operating heavy equip, to being supervisor to assembling pump motors, to farming,

Been thinkin real hard about movin back south, sounds like the job market is still pretty tough down there.

Helping my dad run an oilfield service company that my grandpa started in '67. Welding on rigs, Blow Out Preventer nippling up and testing, casing cleaning and drifting, tool rentals. Also bailing our own hay in the summer and working our cows (about 300). Sell some hay. Trap coyotes and beavers on our places and others. Just try to keep a little cash in my pocket to feed my addiction for guns and knives. Bout to build a 100'x40' shop behind my house to do some welding on the side and crawfish cookin'.

Teacher/Coach for the past 12 years.  Love my job, but the coaching side doesn't give me much time to get in the woods.  Bout to finish my masters and have principals certificate...that will give me a lot more time in the woods. ;D  Pretty excited about that as you can see.
