is any one eles watching this ???? i cant belive its illegal to knife hunt in cailfornia !!! they are crzy i cant be live what there what there saying about hog hunting

yea they have sum crazy laws there its aginest the law to own a ferret there but u can get a card from the doc and smoke weed i dont understand

 I am watching it now!!!! I didn't know that they have to tag hogs in Cal.  :o They are trying to make this hog hunter look bad on tv. The game warrden said that he doubts that the guys dogs are up to date on their rabbies shots just by looking at them. That was a low blow!

Well maybe i spoke too soon, this guy just admitted to being a poacher. LOL Not very smart to do on TV.

 what do yaw expect from california? what state do u think is the 1 that has made diesel more expensive and had to go to the ultra low sulf, cali. the laws there will soon spread like wildfire across the U.S. and effect us all. 1 100 kiliton nuke would do the job over there.

I figured there would be something on here about it, I like watching the show till last night.  I about fell out of the chair when the narrator said" Tonight we are looking for the worst poacher of them all, they use trained pig dogs to find and catch a hog.  Then they run in and cut the hogs throat with a huge knife, while the pig is screaming and crying." Not the exact quote but yall get the jist of it.  WTF are you kidding me!!  They talked about the hog not having a fighting chance, I guess they havent carried dead dogs out of the woods before.  This is as bad as the show black gold.  Absolutely amazing, and somehow they find the classiest guy out there to associate with hog dogging.  Nice.  And yeah that was a low blow on the rabies vacc. comment, the bad part is that guy is supposed to be a dog handler.  How did he expect the dogs to act when he leads another strange dog into "their" yard.  Just lets you know the IQ of these guys.  Definately a step back in progress for hog hunting.

Well, I have four boys at home, that absolutely love the outdoors and all types of hunting. One wants to be a game warden, and they all love hog hunting w/ dogs, trapping hogs, shooting hogs, etc.,etc. - you get the idea - they are some blood thirsty killers at my house! Last night, he was watching this show which is his favorite, and he was making comments about how the hunter looked like a fool, and the game warden looked like a fool. In the end, he said "boy, TV sure makes people do stupid things"! - He is 12.

It is pitiful that a TV producer can put a spin on any topic out there and make it seem one sided. We could have had another producer come in a use the same people to show how devastating the feral hog is to the environment and how much disease they spread to the food supply- then our phones would be ringing of the wall to get us over there to kill every single one of them. In the end, just remember that it is only tv, and only we can keep our love of hogdogging going by doing what we do!

Be polite and courteous to landowners, make sure we respect the game and the dogs, and remind ourselves that some people we may encounter are the "tree hugger" type that will throw comments and insults your way. Take the high road and try to educate them, but also realize these people are idiots that don't except logic. Smile and have a good day knowing that you and your family will eat good, adn when the world goes to crap, my guns and my dogs will keep my family fed.

I saw that last night... Made me sick to my stomach!

California charges $18.95 per hog tag you can buy as many as you want and lets not for get the fact that you have to use copper bullets( because of the california condor) and you can only use dogs if you are going to kill the hog with a gun that must have a centerfire round in it and it must be copper!!! You can not use GPS tracking units on your dogs to hunt of any kind, even if you you have an older tracking unit if it has a treeing switch on it you can not use it. You can only hunt hogs in the day light like normal big game. What do you expect from a bunch of tree hugging liberal hippies and now the reelected Jerry Brown one of the most liberal governers. God help them I have some family that lives there I get told all the time it just gets worse and worse. I have friends that still guide hunts there and they have some of my dogs there most of the time they have to take the clients back to the lodge befor they go find the cripple hogs. Because the do not let them see the dogs work and get cut. One thing is can say for california hogs they do have some good teeth, Have seen lots for my self. JMO

when it first came on i liked it then i realized just exactly how much "justice" they are doing i understand the wardens have a job to protect our natural resources but they dont realize the negative publicity that they are putting on hunters and idk about out in cali but here in louisiana the hunters are the ones who pay the majority of the wardens salaries...idk about yall but i would LOVE to take that smart as$ blonde punk that calls himself a warden on a south la fishing trip or catch him off duty and give him some WILD JUSTICE ;)....metaphorically speaking of course ;D

Thats why I got the hell out of there. I was making $42.50 an hour and couldnt afford to live there. $2,400 a month to rent a house in the valley, then have to put up with all the stupid laws, Gangs and other things. Not for me, I grew up there. The hog tag thing must have changed, when I was there the tags cost $80 and that gave you 8 tags but 1 tag was for 1 day you had to use them in consecutive, that meant that when you started to hog hunt you had 8 days straight to hunt and you were done.

i liked the old man that shot the deer, it looked like it had been there awhile. he just walked up an said i did it you do what you have to do to me .

Had they explained that in the episode, I would not have been quite so sick to my stomach. Their explanation was "Hunting hogs with dogs in Cookyfonia is illegal because it is cruel and torturous".

Sounds like cajunjag's 12 yr old hit it on the head, both warden and poachers looked stupid on that show.  The wardens seemed to be a little antaginistic(spell??), that show didn't do alot for anyone, not impressed at all by that episode.

Just got around to watching it. Had it recorded. Metaphoricly they need their little @$$'$ beat. Every part of it made me mad. The punk game warden saying his job was just a game about 20 times. Well if he thinks his job is a game then he doesn't need to get paid. The comment about the dogs not being up to date on their shots and why the heck did he have to get his stupid german sheppard out of the truck in the first place? He was probly trying to start a dog fight so he could shoot a dog. The guy that shot the deer in his yhard was perfectly honest about everything and had no ill intentions. The punks wouldn't know what a tomatoe plant was anyway much less one that a deer had ate a blossom off of. But leave the poor little animal loving lady alone that had a horse in a mudhole feeding it trash from a grocery store. Oh I'm mad!!!!!!!

Last nights episode on the "pig stalkers" really got me mad. This is my home turf where I live and hunt. All us hog doggers know eachother. We have either sold dogs to eachother or bought them from eachother. Its a small group of peple who hunt with dogs for hogs and because of the dog culture we all know one another.

I know Mike Smith aka smitty. Did he poach at one time in his life? Absolutely. Does he know poachers? Absolutely. What he said is absolutely true. The thing is, is he has more permition on private property to hunt than I could ever hoped for. I doubt he has jumped a fence in many years. The wardens chased him for years and failed yet they still come to his house and harass him for their unresolved grudge. This is a very very common occurance to be perpetually harassed in monterey county by wardens. Especially for hog doggers.

There are many things in this episode that make me angry. #1 finding a hog head in a ditch makes the warden assume that a crime was commited. #2 Seeing Smitty at a donut shop a 100 miles away makes him a suspect. #3 Its too dangerous to ask him any questions when he is spotted there eating a donut so they need to roll on him at his house with 4 wardens and a service dog. #4 harassing him for 3 hours (it was 3 hours) about a hog head in a ditch and a some other people who the wardens stopped a month earlier (the head was found almost a month before they went to his house).

To sum it up there are a pile of hog carcasses in and around the back roads of monterey county. Im sure poachers drop unwanted hog parts on the side of the road as well as many other leagally taken hogs. Should you dump your hog hides on the road? No. But its a common occurance nun the less. Since when does being seen in front of a donut shop make you a suspect of a crime?? Why cant the warden make a contact with him in front of the coffie shop? Why did the DFG need to pull 3 other wardens from what was probabally 100's of miles away just to talk to him?

Bottom line, Smitty, a poacher by his own admition, had no connection to the wardens investigation. There was no reason to contact him. The warden had no cause to suspect that a hog head in a ditch a 100 miles away was connected to him in any way. The people who the warden pulled over that had the hog blood and crap in their truck were completely unrelated to smitty in any way.

Put the pieces together and you will see the pattern of harassment that takes place in monterey county by wardens and mabye other counties. This harassment is quite common. The only shame is the fact that they showed an episode where they contacted smitty. He has a poor reputation and its pretty much well deserved. The thing is that this harassment is common for most of us down here. If you have a dog in the back of your truck in south county and get pulled over by a warden dont plan on being home for dinner cause your gonna be there for a while..........
