I took off for a week last year to hunt for a week. The first morning, I woke up and there was 10" of snow on the ground here in East TX. I thought it would be good because the boys in the mountains say it is easier for a dog to trail in the snow. Two days later when most of the snow had melted, we bayed our first hog. Bayed nine hogs over the next four days, but never bayed one the two days when snow was on the ground. I'm like Bullmaster, my dogs acted confused on the snow. They really didn't want to get out and hunt, I guess it blew their mind. LOL Title: Re: any luck in the snow? Post by: BIG BEN on January 10, 2011, 01:29:23 pm Always loved hunting in snow, I believe with snow on the ground it keeps the scent lower to the ground which makes it easier for the dogs to trail. I had a walker that ran by sight of bears tracks in the snow in California, that ole dog was something else though.

Post by: Jacob on January 10, 2011, 08:20:55 pm looks like it paid off...this is a buddy of mines dog "buck" and my dog "dye" baying on a few good ones in a thicket...we only ended up catching a shoat...but now I know my cd can catch. It was just awesome to see these all bunched up like this in the snow...
