Title: Facebook and kids...
Post by: Circle C on January 11, 2011, 05:32:05 pm
In this day and time, I don't know anyone without a FB page (except maybe Mike).  Both of our daughters have a page, and I make a point to check in on them and see that they are being respectful, polite kids. Unlike some of the junk I see some of their "friends" saying.
Anyhow, today I was checking our 10 year old's page and was tickled to see the photo that she has chosen for her page. It is her, her hog dog, and a young boar we caught out at Jesse Paul's place a couple months ago. Sure beats one of those "self pics"  I did notice she cropped out her older sister...maybe they were fighting at the time ;D   Just thought I would share.

That's awesome CircleC, but I'm with Mike on this one... My wife has one and she tried to talk me into getting one. I got on hers and with simple searches I pulled up some seriously bad stuff.... So BEWARE! You can see what your kids post, but watch out for the other stuff that doesnt go on their walls, and not necessarily the kids, but other poeple trying to contact them. Weird people and groups have tried to contact my wife through e-mail. I dont care for it, and my kids will NEVER have an account. But in FBs defense, I am way over protective of my kids.

Glad that she's on the right track Chris,.....and I fully understand about her removing her big sister from the shot.....my wife is one of 5 sisters and they would do that in a heartbeat.

Good stuff that is what sisters do, a squable leads to being removed from the photo and it's her FB page not sis..  Looks like you have kids that are very intelligent and have a sense of humor too... ;D

I agree.  No facebook for this guy.  One day when I decide preying on women on the internet is fun I'll join FB.

well i hate to say it but , i have a face book , my wife has one and both girls, but it shure is a good way to know what is happening in our kids social life we keep a close eye on there pages and all freinds have to be aproved by me or my wife.

Chris
that lets you know your daughter is proud of who she is and what she does with her family.

For us FB has made it easy to stay in touch with our son that's in the military. So far for us its been the fastest way to know where he is and how he's doin.

I have one & added about 30 fellow doggers from here . Now i can put faces and names with people . I agree  with Case about letting kids on Fb u never know who might be using a fake name to contact them . I have a 11yr old son & all his friends have one but not him . Last week i sent Mike a e-mail & asked him if it was ok if my son joined on here . Mike said that was fine I wanted to ask him first . I feel this site is ok for my son to be on . The discussions are kept clean & dont get to heated . My son is ate up with running dogs & that's what it's all about , passing on our sport too the younger generation right !!!!! ;D

Chris that is a good pic, glad to see she thinks the hunting is cool!

Mike, You gotta get on FB too, don't you know all the internet hunters are doing it!

I have to say when I first joined FB, I too thought it was stupid, but I have found it faster to get in touch with people than email and I can keep track of friends and family all in one spot. It has an "event" place, thats been helping me keep track of stuff I usually forget, now people send me an invitation to an event and I get reminders!
