Title: Pretty day for a hunt with some young dogs, Brisco Co.
Post by: Silverton Boar Dogs on January 25, 2011, 07:37:49 pm
Loaded up some young dogs and Donny, Ross, and Tanner and made a short hunt. Young dogs did real well and Stormy my Stag is turning the crank. Blondie was caught solid when I got to the bay on her first real hunt. Nice afternoon in West Texas.

Thanks,
Paul T

Good looking young dogs Paul. There is something about that country that gets in your blood, everytime I see it I just want to get in the truck drive eight hours and set and watch the sun go down. Keep the pics coming.

Good pictures Paul! Looks like that stage hound is working out how you wanted it to. If you ever get tired of feeding Blondie, I think she would do just fine catching hogs in SE Texas!

Her mother was a grade Dogo, from Cazadores stock that has since been culled. She was a small framed dog that was a very hard holder but didn't have any hunt or nose. I bred her to AJ, a straight Catahoula male that is a real rough cowdog that will hang on a bad cow of any size if they don't want to get in the bunch. I was trying to produce some short range catch dogs for hogs that could follow me horseback and that would not be as hard holders as straight a Dogo, and hoped also to use they to catch wild cattle.. So far so good on how the cross is turning out.

Maybe I do not understand,  but why dont you want them to be hard holders?
