Title: I need help trying to locate a dog tote for the back of my 4-wheeler.. Post by: BIGandUGLY on November 17, 2007, 01:58:03 pm I have looked everywhere but still no tote for my rear rack. Can someone please help a guy get started.lol.

Post by: Sean on November 18, 2007, 11:18:11 am Big, no one's ignoring you, traffic just gets a little slow here on weekends; people hunting and all. i don't know of anyone that sells these racks. most of the ones you see on here(including ours) were custom made by their owners, designed and welded by them. i know if anyone out there did make them, there would probably be a pretty high demand for them. maybe some of the guys on here can tell you what materials they used and how they put theirs together. i don't know of any companies that manufacture them though.

Post by: tuskbuster on November 18, 2007, 03:08:28 pm check out the rack on my wheeler in (finally) below .we run em on front for windin .but you could mount it on the back.all aluiminum cept for thactual sub mount frame each are diff,for diff wheelers. i get 200 $ for my decks and 1 has been on my wheeler for 3 yaers

Here's mine made out of light-wall 1" square tubing and expanded metal. I put a 1/4" plywood divider in the front and a thick rubber matt in the floor. Four u-bolts hold it to the existing rack and its easy to take on and off. I'm need to make me another one for the front for the dogs to wind from. Post by: tuskbuster on November 18, 2007, 05:38:20 pm i like the ones for the back of the wheelers mike but goin up and down the creek banks i have flipped it over backwards with 3 dogs on,plus on the front they get the air that is full of hog scent and not the oils gases and what ever i been drinkin.LOL.the aluminim also tends not to break the existing rack with all the wait and vibration. i've made single alu.boxes for the bulls and a 2 holer also.

Here are some pics of mine that I built last year. Mine is heavy, and made with 1x1x1/8 square tube and 3/4" #9 expanded metal. I took an old truck bed mat and put it on the bottom, and I have also placed a 1x4 across the back, so that the dogs don't hang their legs when jumping down. here are a few pictures of the rear rack and the front rack. I started out with a chains across the front of the rack, I now have eyebolts and swivel clips in three locations for the dogs. I also put a front "rack" for the dogs to wind, and also to have a place to put the hogs etc. If I was making a new rack today, I would use a lot thinner metal, and less of it. Some want them a little bigger or smaller and no two bikes or people are the same.

Circle C's rack originally started on my Prairie with a lift and 26 inch tires. It was so tall that the dogs had issues getting up on it. We still have to heave Meaty and Rosie up onto that thing, and it is a bit of a pain since it is over belly-button high. It is a little easier on Chris' wheeler I guess because his may set lower down. Still an issue though. If the rack were turned around, the dogs could use the floorboards while getting onto it. I don't know how long your seat would last though. Another negative I can see is that it would put the weight and strain further back on the wheeler. This is also an issue with our rack the way it sets. Too much weight with two 100+ lb bulldogs and a cur dog back there. Chris just got my wheeler going again, so hopefully now we can get another rack made and not overload so badly.
