I have a 308 norma mag built on a actually german k98 action.  Vary well built and is a shooter.  Factory loads are over 3000 and hand loads are wicked.  Now don't no dogs and don't ride horses so would have to be something else on a trade

SO MY QUESTION TO ALL IS WHICH GUN SHOOTS THE FARTHEST WITH KNOCKOUT POWER ON ONE END

The better question is do u have the knoledge and skill to shoot at that distance?  Man a 3006 in capable hands is able to kill a lot further than most have the skill to be shooting.  I don't mean to sound like a butt and I'm no expert but have done my fair amount of shooting and know all the guns here are capable of out shooting me if that makes sense it is more about what u want the new powder and it has sliped my mind will bring a 3006 above 3000 fps.  That is kicking it for a 30 cal bullet.  What I am trying to get at is  make sure ur able to shoot long distance before u start worrying which has the most knock down at long distances.  If u want true long range performance look at a 6.5x284 best ballistic coefficient out there.

The 7mag would shoot the farthest...withe the flattest trajectory, the 338 is definitely the most knockdown power, depends on what your looking to hunt,unless you are hunting grizzly you probably can do just fine in the lower 48 states with the 7mm

And like purbeedcolt said, 30-06 is a pretty potent rifle...in the right hands can kill anything in the lower 48 states,probably the most versatile cartridge around, with loads for every situation,you can even get loads of 55 grain for varmints for a 30-06,another point to make, is the 30-06 ammunition is easy to find at any store, and cheaper :)

like they said its a really good gun i have loved it but i think imma keep it for a saddle cuz i looked and wut i want for the gun is more than that saddle is worth im 23  and have had this gun since i was 11 or so and have killed many deer and hogs some cyotes and one couger with it and it has done me right everytime

Man I have sold a few guns over the years and all but a couple I have regretted

a good caliber is one that YOU can shoot well and easy to find ammo. i have friends that shoot .308 out to 1000 yards accuratly. 7 mag and 30-06 are both excellent calibers. 270 is my choice.

U will need atleast a 50 cal to have enough energy to cleanly kill at this range and even then ur energy will only be about will be only about 646 maybe less can't remember the exact muzzle vel. foot pounds.  Moose have a lot of meat on them and u need a lot of energy to be able to punch through.  Go to handloads.com they have a calculator that is pretty close and type in what cartages ur looking at and see what I'm talking about.

Hey ment to say if ur thinking about that show on the outdoor channel there is a big difference in elk and moose

in a retired usmc sniper.u could use a 308 for that range and animal.7mmis a great choice but i would go with the 338.rum or lapua or ghe edge.Capable of 1800 yards.no problem at all with a good optics.

This is stupid. There is no way you can buy a gun and leave with it in a few days and expect to make a thousand yard shot.   By the questions you have asked, it shows you are learning about calibers.

Those types of shots take skill, practice and a lot if shots fired down the range.  There many many variables to account for at ranges like that.

Also don't expect to shoot off the box ammo and make that shot.

X2 I agree, but if you are serious good luck to ya.  If I was leaving for a moose hunt on Tuesday i wouldnt be counting on finding my gun on a hog hunting msg board.  I would go to the gun store and buy me one.  But to each his own.
