Title: For Britt Garcia....Sadie & Family (pic heavy) Post by: Cristina on March 30, 2011, 11:09:43 am Here are some pics I found from an old thread and I added some more pics. Most of our dogs got a lot of there traits from Hank but you can still see some of Sadie in some of them. And they are definately rough like Sadie, Hank wasnt very rough, only when he needed to be but you know how Sadie was. Post up some pictures on this thread if you like. Id love to see some more old pics of Hank and Sadie's sire on some hunts etc. It was great talking to you!
This is a picture of Sadie a few years before she passed. I still get emotional when I talk about her because she was a damn good dog :'( (http://texashogdogs.webs.com/SADIE1.JPG) Here is Sophie and Bocano. They were from the second litter Hank and Sadie had. The first Litter was with Troy, I have some pics of the dog I got from that litter, I will have to scan those. He was my first hogdog! Sophie. She looked like Hank huh!!! Pinta is straight catch! One of the reasons we decided not to hunt her much, we are afraid of losing her. (http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii302/avengedqueen/Mobile%20Uploads/l_69d7a5d9166d6d9c130330b206918467.jpg) Cody. He used to be all catch, we would not hear him bayed ever! Now he barks but still not much! He will go further than we like and will get "lost" (http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/xx174/CristinaHernandez25/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG01069-20091024-1440.jpg) Now here are Sadies Grand kids lol These right here are from Sophie and my BMC from Matt named Montero. He was the one we bred to Sadie right before she passed also. Calabaza (Male) (http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/xx174/CristinaHernandez25/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG02124-20101016-1402.jpg) Chameleon (Male) He struck a hog on his first hunt. He looks like your Bubba dog! (http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/xx174/CristinaHernandez25/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG02127-20101016-1428.jpg) (http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/xx174/CristinaHernandez25/P2160301.jpg) Mocha (Female) Looks just like Sophie and Hank. She is hell on wheels! (http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/xx174/CristinaHernandez25/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG02140-20101016-1518.jpg) Macarena (Female) She reminds me a lot of Sadie (http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/xx174/CristinaHernandez25/PICT0062.jpg) Now these are from Bocano, and a cat gyp we had that was from Cane and Frost out of Troys Catahoula dogs. Sancho he hunts just like Hank. (http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/xx174/CristinaHernandez25/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG02149-20101016-1629.jpg) Junior (http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/xx174/CristinaHernandez25/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG02145-20101016-1601.jpg) Sabina (her name is not missing an R lol) She is JUST like Sadie, always calm, and easy to feed. Shes also a rough one. She got the size from Hoss, her dad. Cricket, her mom was a small dog only about 45 or 50 pounds. Her pups and grand pups look like a solid set of working dogs. It's good to hear they have put lots of hogs on the ground for yall. I will post up some pics tonight, It was a pleasure talking to you as well.

They were both out of our original Sadie, just had different dads. Hoss was a real good dog. He very seldom found the 1st hog of the day, but the rest of our pack had to work hard to bay ahead of him the rest of the day. He was very independant and prefered to bay his own hog. Wish I had a dollar for every time we were tying a hog and listening to him baying the next one not far a away. He sounded like a hound, you could here him from a long way off. He found hogs for us for almost 10yrs, unfortunately my dad didnt like keeping many females around, so yalls Sadie is the only pup we ever got out of him.

The bay pic I posted above was from the lease across from Troys house, about 15 of his bay pen hogs got out, he wanted some dog power on the ground because he expected them to rally. He was right, we bayed em on a pine plantation hill. Just before my bulldog hit Troy n his friend Chris shot 2 bars he had been feeding forever and then Bo Jack caught a boar. Then they scattered and that pic was the next bay we had. It was a fun hunt, ever though we couldnt catch all of them.

Yes, I am much older and fatter now, so laugh it up Coal and Mike. This pic was right after the first hunt I ever videoed. The hog made a big loop when we jumped him and Bo Jack got lost. When I got to the bay, Cricket was the only dog caught on the big boar and he was thrashing her like you would not believe. She was holdin on for dear life and thankfully she had a vest on. He knocked no less than 10 holes in the chest and shoulders. I knew then she was never going to bay a hog. She was one of the hardest hunting dogs Ive had, but spent a lot of time healing up. I sold her as a CD for $400 to Steve Weaver from Crosby when she was 4 1/2 yrs old. The 1st hunt he took her on, they bayed a boar that weighed around 400 pounds. Steve said she caught on the ear and couldnt even touch the ground, after a heck of a fight, they got him legged and tied. Then they hauled him to Batson Bay pen and sold him for $200, half his $ back on the first hunt, that kind of stuff never happens to me lol. He hunted her for several more years and she died on his yard. They hunted the Trinity River all the time, wish he could come on here and tell some storys about her, he had some good ones.

Title: Re: For Britt Garcia....Sadie & Family (pic heavy) Post by: Mike on March 30, 2011, 07:56:42 pm No way, Weaver got Cricket from??? Hell, it's a small world Britt. Steve and I hunted together for a few when he first got into it... caught a lot of hog behind ol' Cricket. My computer crashed back in '05 and I lost all my old pics of some of them big hogs we pulled out of the national forest... me and Weaver caught a bunch together out here.
And yes... I'm laughing at how young you look in the pic! ;D Title: Re: For Britt Garcia....Sadie & Family (pic heavy) Post by: Indian Valley Ranch on March 30, 2011, 09:01:52 pm That is unbelievable Mike, I lost contact with Steve a few years back. Have you heard from him lately. Duke, that short stocky yella dog that we sent in with Tink and Reload was a Cricket grandson and Cody, the old male was her son. When you were hunting with him, was he running her on the ground or as a lead in CD. I know he tried to hunt her on the ground at first, but she was always getting cut up, just like when I had her. Now that we have the garmin, I wish I had a whole pack just like her. She was a cool little dog, I sure miss her. One day I will show you some of the video footage I have on her. When Steve watched it, didnt take him long to decide whether he wanted to buy her.
Title: Re: For Britt Garcia....Sadie & Family (pic heavy) Post by: Mike on March 30, 2011, 09:19:28 pm No, he just used her as a lead in when I met him. Every now and then he would let her run loose. I haven't talked to him in 3 or 4 years now. He ended up going through a divorce and working out of town all the time.
I still have the hog head he got mounted in the top of my closet. He came home from work one time and momma had tossed it out in the garage... he asked me to hang on to it, so nothing would happen to it. ;D Title: Re: For Britt Garcia....Sadie & Family (pic heavy) Post by: Cristina on March 31, 2011, 10:11:47 am Thanks Britt for the pics!!! We have a good set of dogs now because of Sadie and Hank. I have plans on breeding a couple of our dogs already but if you ever want to breed one of our dogs with one of your dogs from Sadies line I would be down for that. Im sure you probably met my dad and brother, I may have met you also. We used to go up there and hunt with Troy all the time before and after we bought Hank and Sadie. I think my dad and brother went some time last year with him on a hunt.
I will never forget we went hunting to a spot I bet you have hunted many times it was by a river I dont remember the name of it but we got in the woods and the wind started blowing like crazy, I was standing under a tree and I heard cracking and my brother yells out to me "look out!!!" and I just ran! the top half of the tree fell and I was under it! Turns out a tornado had passed right by us! On the way back to Troys house we saw cars flipped over, trees pulled out of the ground and houses completely destroyed. And to think we were in the woods hunting!! Tornado had passed right by us! We were not able to hunt anyway because it was thundering and Hank would not hunt if there was thunder. Do you know how Troy is doing? I havent talked to him in a while, I may need to make a trip up to his place and give him a visit. I remember how much I LOVED going to his house to talk about breeding and dog training. I was like 15 or 16. I remember that hog he had in the pen named bbq. That Black and Tan dog on the left in that last pic looks like Cane. Sadie did make a big dog and most of our dogs are much bigger than your average cur. Her pups were always big. That Bocano dog was the biggest weve had. Sancho, Calabaza and Chameleon are up there in size to. Ive had lots of people come over and say our curs are huge but I like em. I have some more pictures of Sadie from right before she passed that I will post. They are on my sisters camera so it might take me a day or two. Did you ever hunt with Sandy, Hanks sire? Im so glad I get to hear about Sadies parents because I always wondered where exactly she came from and what line she was out of. I like to trace back where my dogs are from and now I can! Title: Re: For Britt Garcia....Sadie & Family (pic heavy) Post by: Indian Valley Ranch on April 01, 2011, 08:34:03 am Wish I coulld find some better pics, but thats all I can find here in Denton. Just let me know if you have a female you want to breed, I have several males to choose from that are finished strike dogs, but only 1 female. I dont think I ever got to meet your family, but Troy talked about yall alot and enjoyed hunting with you guys. I talked to Troy about a month ago for the first time in years. He is still out of the dog business but seemed to be doing well. Troy was always good to me and I enjoyed hunting and working dogs with him. I hate that his health has kept him from doing the things he loves. I might have hunted with Sandy one time before he sold him, its been too long ago to know for sure, but I know he was a really good strike dog. I remember when Hank and the rest of the country music hall of fame litter was born lol. I think there was Hank, Haggard, Reba, Laretta, and there might have been a George, again its been a while. I helped Troy start that litter and they all made good dogs. Im gona be in yalls neck of the woods next week, if it fits into everyones schedule, we might be able to get together, Id like to meet you and your family and maybe show yall my old huntin video. I have some more friends in the area I need to catch up with also. Talk to ya later.
