Title: great test for the dogs Post by: pigstkr on November 25, 2007, 11:44:33 am went to a new place today out here in northern california...looked like real good orchard country...(thought to myself this is going to be easy)...after about 2 hours of hunting the dogs took off like they were shot out of a rocket..come over the hill and they were at a giant black berry patch about the size of texas...the owner said that this stretch of the creek went about 2 miles....about ten minutes waiting my big catahoula and my yella dog found a hog trail in and all h_ _ L broke loose...Mac struck first and started barking, then the ole man Yella started hammer'in like no tommorrow...then i seen my Patches flyin in along with 2 young dogs we are starting....about that time my goof ball Mac dog tried to catch and it sounded like a war in this briar patch....hog broke twice and the dogs stayed on it so i decided to let my rednose and 85 lb catahoula/pit get some action...after climbing on my belly for a good 20 minutes i seen the silouhette of a monster hog with six dogs on him and he was spinning dogs off racking them thru the willows and berries...i was 2 blocked for a minute but when i seen my rednose get flopped on her back and still hangin on the ear my adrenaline pumped and i made a hole to get to the action....10 minutes passed and i got a good stick on the ole buzzard....BLACK HOG DOWN....started checking dogs got by with only 9 stapes in HOLLIE( the rednose) and 4 staples in Mac my catahoula and a fe pokes in Crunch the cat/pit....took over an 2 hours to get him out of briar patch witch i was only about 200 feet in the patch....a great test for the dogs and sean it was really a great test on this new hip i got back in june....i only got a few pics of the beast camera was full....weighed 296 lbs 2 3/4 on one side and 2 5/8 on the other....i live for that kind of action but would really like to catch a few in the orchard next trip..LOL Pigstkr
