Some of you probably know him as Zorro, others as Zeus. Dogo/AB cross. Handles like a dream and catches like a freight train. Funny thing about him is that I've caught eight hogs with him since I got him and six of the eight didn't squeal a bit. I still haven't figured out if it's coincidence or perhaps the way he takes care of business, but it sure makes running in behind him interesting.

Have you ever weighed Jasper, or is the 80# a guess. He sure looks a lot heavier than that in the pictures. The brush and grain fields during the summer can do a number on those bigger bulldogs. We try to keep them smaller and cool running. Title: Re: what kind of catch dogs do u run Post by: Silverton Boar Dogs on November 27, 2007, 01:05:54 pm Chris, I weighed him last year when I had him in summer running shape(thin) and he weighed 75lbs, he is probaly 80-85lbs now. I might put him on the scales again just to see...He is wearing an extra Lg. Vest in that pic. He is a big leggy finished catch dog that I can use as a R.C.Dog if I need to. I am lucky to have him, most people that see him catch just say WOW...I got him when he was young, and started him nice and easy. The bigest hog he has caught on his own weighed over 600lbs. I have been using him for the last 2 1/2 years and he has caught 200 plus pigs for me, I love him.

Your dog looks a lot like mine. Probably are brothers...I think both came from Krystal. Mine also has a lot of wind to him. I specifically wanted a dogo or dogo cross as the dogos were specifically bred as an endurance hound with the size necessary to get the job done. Zorro/Zeus also REALLY likes to hunt, and will stay out a long time if let out to run with the other dogs. (Actually found that out by accident!) Nice pictures. You and Bryant have some nice looking dogs, The more I am around the big white dogs the more I like them. The general opinion that I have formed is that I tend to like the dogo/bulldog cross more than the straight bulldog or straight dogo. It just happens that I have two ab's that work well for me, though I would love for them to have some more wind. When he says the dog makes an impression, he isn't kidding. That sucker should wear a cape. When Jasper gets to a bay, the game is over. All you gotta do is walk in & do what you wanna do with the hog. He is big, powerful, and just a pleasure to see work. That dog loves to catch a hog. He is truly a special animal. It's hard for me to watch other catch dogs after seeing Jasper work. If he were mine, he'd probably live in the house all the time, I'd ruin him I'm sure.
On the other hand, Paul's "little bulldog" (yes, that's his name) is no slouch either. He's coming along nicely. I got to see little bulldog on his first solo catch & the little rascal put the hammer on that hog.
