anyone know about a new law in texas trying to pass about how many dogs are allowed on one property dont matter how many acres you have i was told

I don't know of anything being applied to the state as a whole, but here in harris county, (houston) i think you can only have a small number of dogs before you are required to have permits.  I think that's how it goes, or its something along those lines.

Lawmakers dosen't ask you if they can make a law, they just make it and tell you later, sometimes.

   A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
   AN ACT
   relating to limitations on the number of dogs at a residence in 
   certain counties.
          BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
          SECTION 1.  Subchapter Z, Chapter 240, Local Government 
   Code, is amended by adding Section 240.904 to read as follows:
          Sec. 240.904.  REGULATION OF NUMBER OF DOGS AT RESIDENCE.   
   (a)  In this section, "residential subdivision" has the meaning 
   assigned by Section 240.081.
          (b)  The commissioners court of a county with a population of 
   one million or more by order may limit the number of dogs that an 
   individual may keep at a residence located in a residential 
   subdivision in the unincorporated area of the county.
          SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives 
   a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as 
   provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this 
   Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this 
   Act takes effect September 1, 2009.

So basically if your in a larger county that has bigger cities in it, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, etc these are the counties it will effect?

I live in a county that has 117,000 people so I guess I wouldn't be effected?

Just wondering, I HOPE it doesnt pass because even if it does just effect larger counties, soon they will pass laws for everyone in the state.

Talk about taking away peoples freedoms. I have 4 dogs, what does someone do if this law does go into effect? shoot all dogs over the amount of 2?

I really don't understand some of the stupid laws this state is passing or trying to pass, people need to pay attention to whats happened to their freedoms.

Use it and write them, please.  Letting them hear your voice in opposition is the first step to keeping legislation like this off the books.
