Title: cowdogs or hogdogs Post by: cward on January 27, 2009, 07:55:14 pm I went to hunt aplace years ago the guy who had the grazing rights on the place did not want us in thier running our hog dogs around his cow.He had a bad expierence hog dogs and his cows. But we got invited to go in thier with the land owner.we got up early that and went well the guy with the cows new we were coming so he decided to pin cows that day to watch over us around his cows.we baayed some hogs right off the bat and caught about 5 the dogs went and were bayed on areal good boer.as we were trying to get to them I noticed that the cattle man was having lots of trouble with his cattle. So I told him if you will let me go catch that hog I will bring my dogs back up here and help you with your cattle I use my dogs both ways.He said if you think it will help come on. we caught the big boar and went to help . He said that was the fist time he had ever pinned all his cattle at 1 time.Me and him made friends I give him some puppies and I still hog hunt 3 of his ranches the only one with a key.I think alot of my dogs because they go both ways and handle with abrain!I also still pin cattle with that cattle man!

It is always interesting to me how some people will not believe you until you show them that dogs can be taught to go after just hogs or cows or whichever you ask. It can be tough to educate someone without showing them first hand. Do you have some pics of your dogs on cattle? I know that Silverton on here posted some good pics of his dogs on cattle a while back, they were pretty neat. I like to see dogs working, regardless of what it is. If you have some pics and the time to post em throw em up here. I also like to see good horses so don't feel like you need to leave those out ;D
