Title: Career ender?
Post by: RIP on January 28, 2009, 09:49:56 pm
I have an ab who got cut thanksgiving right above his, i guess you would call it his knee on his back leg.  It was about a 6'' cut that went through the skin and right where the tendon meets the muscle had what looked like a few nicks in the tendon/muscle.  Not deep or anything and after we sewed it up i wasn't concerned. He's had worse.  Ever since then he's been favoring it, wont put weight on it when he's standing but he can use it to jump or run when he wants and even hunted with him a few weeks ago and he seemed fine till the end of the 5 hour hunt.  Question is has anyone had any experience with an injury like this and if so what is to be expected? I dont want to retire him cause he is a helluva dog who find's and catches his own hogs but i dont want to do more damage to him either.

here's a picture of him I took before a hunt a couple weeks ago. He was limping when he walked but found a hog and caught it himself, so obviously running isn't a problem.

If it wasn't for him we would have been shut out that day. I'm kinda curious to see what everyone else thinks too. He's got a lot of heart.
